Aah i see, nevermind mun, back on topic, expanding on an earlier idea, how about a 3 day festival with the most well known bands on the 1st day, welsh bands on the 2nd ( welsh language or not) and the 3rd day devoted to alternative bands, therefore, everybody wins, happy days mun!!!

It would be great to have a music festival using the Parc. But to who will headline , is governed by costs ,which will increase ticket prices.

On a serious note Steve would be top notch, perfect for a festival, just hope the Scarlets management are taking notice

Smelly the Os need us, they are in crisis and when in crisis, we respond.
In 1972, Roy Bergiers scored that try and said "that was for you lofty"

"All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us"

we need to look much more seriously at the potential concert revenues
there is NO concert venue in west wales for serious sized gigs

where else could host a 15000 stadium crowd? you have cardiff and then you have the liberty and thats it

time we stepped it up and get some serious sellers.

I dont care if its stuff I like, Im more concerned with the scarlets getting good crowds.
id suggest any big singer like the ones theyve had in liberty like pink, rod stewart, elton john, the who would top 10,000 maybe more in you get phonics
, manics, heck maybe sir tom when hes in UK
or your adeles etc

whatever sells.

the welsh are insane about music yet theres no big venues down west which is a bit crazy. so we are in pole position to totally corner that market. we just need to tempt them down here for a price thats affordable

if you build it with the right performers and the right marketable, they will come, oh brother will they come

The teeny pop artists are the ones which will attract the most audiences. Commercial artists will sell tickets like Roy mentioned. People have their own tastes but some of the acts mentioned won't fill the place.

rancid in parc y scarlets!!! As much as I'd love that I can't see the gina g fans booking them!

Sfa on the other hand can do acoustic sets, will play welsh sets, and I'd they do a full blown show will be the best gig possible for parc y scarlets organisers to put on IMO. They will sell the place out.

But first and foremost the sound must be spot on as only men aloud had terrible sound. I don't know what pa system they use in concerts but for bands like rancid, dropkick murphys etc, they can sound so bad if the pa ain't right. Any band would. That would then result in bands not coming. We need good reputation for bands to come. Or pay them well!!

We should do a festival that is realistic and fits in with Scarlets. Dydd gwyl dewi. March 1st. We should have a festival full of welsh acts. Some big successful, some welsh language acts, and use the barn and lounge and clwb as well as the stadium for different stages.
Manic Street Preachers the stadium band with support of someone like the blackout. Other stages can have welsh artists like gruff Rhys on his own in barn, rene griffiths, derwyddon dr gonzo, and sibrydion and the clwb can have gwyneth glyn.
Next night big act Super Furry Animals with support from acid casuals. Barn can have meic Stevens, y niwl and the clwb can have someone like euros child's.
Last night -
Dafydd Iwan, Bryn Fon, Huw Chiswell, brigyn etc. that is the best bet IMO.

Clap I really like that idea

what sort of crowd turnedc up for the Enjoy festival this year? And what was the maximum crowd that could have turned up?

It will always be difficult to attract big names to the Parc for a few reasons. Firstly, Llanelli is not a major population centre so there is a limited demand. Secondly, there are other venues in South Wales which are a more attractive proposition to bands.

Cardiff for example has a much larger potential market, especially when you consider that cities such as Swansea and Bristol are within easy reach. The venues in Cardiff are either bigger than the Parc (Millennium, CCC) and venues like the internatonal arena has built up a reputation amongst promoters for being a good venue.

Then in swansea you have the Liberty, which would be our main rival when it came to getting gigs. With a bigger capacity and being in a larger, more well known town, it is a more attractive proposition to promoters and bands alike.

We might get the odd one-off concert and hopefully Enjoy will carry on and be a success next year. However, I honestly think that the Barn offers a much better venue for gigs. The problem being that each time a gig took place there it would limit the use of the barn for training etc so it would be a balancing act. An indoor festival of local/Welsh bands in the barn would be my suggestion.

Let's bring it down to idiot level. Swansea and Cardiff get far more gigs etc. than Llanelli, anybody can see that, what with places like Sin City, Brangwyn Hall in Jackland and Cardiff's million music venues. Something like this would get the club and area money, artists will see other artists playing down here and will start inquiring about performing in this part of the world. The more artists we get to play in the Parc the more will come, Band A will see their mates in Band B playing Parc y Scarlets and want to come down and see what all the fuss is about. This would then have a knock on effect on town, attracting more and more live music down this way + further west, that would meen that more venues get opened up in town for music, and Llanelli and Parc y Scarlets can then compete with Swansea and Cardiff for stuff like this. It won't happen overnight, but if we just give it a try. Apologies if i sound a bit optimistic there.

I love your optimism, but honestly can't see it happening. You have to consider that we would be competing against dedicated music venues who have relatively little set up costs. Each time a gig was played in the Parc you would need to install stage, sound, lighting etc taking away from the profits either to us, bands, promoters or all parties.

I agree that it would be good to see gigs down at the Parc, but think there are better avenues for non-match day funding such as conferencing, trade fayres etc as the stadium is better suited to these.
