Yes, it is "early", but why not?

I don't like to name too many forwards after one game as we need to see how they get on against the other contenders, but I'll suggest a couple later.

Backs: No Welsh backs have yet "put their hands up" as they like to say in the SH, and precious few English ones. I suppose all the Irish backs are in with a shout, but these are near certainties (barring injuries) IMO:

Gibson-Park, Aki and Lowe (none Irish by birth!LOL)
The other starters have a good chance, though I'd prefer sub 10 Crowley to starter Prendergast as he's physically stronger and a better kicker.

From Scotland, Huw Jones must be a cert. In the absence of other contenders, I feel Russell must go though he needs to cut out the daft mistakes he makes when his side seem to be cruising. Their other backs are contenders, but especially van der Merwe (another from the SH...) and White at 9 did himself no harm.

England backs - the only one to make an impact (until the game was lost) was the burly Lawrence, though he faded after half time.

Forwards: I like both Irish hookers - Kelleher and Sheehan - and Cherry of Scotland went well. No props stood out - the Scots were under pressure form Italy - though maybe surprisingly two from Wales - our own Henry Thomas in the scrums, and Smith in the loose - did OK. We'll have a clearer idea at the end of the 6N.

Beirne must go as he's a former Scarlet (!) - no, he's just very good. Itoe maybe - so long as he keeps his mouth shut. Darge is the stand-out back row forward in week 1. The rest - not much between them so far.

I think the shoe-ins atm are Dorris, Sheehan VDM, Furlong, Smith, Keenan, Huw jones, Beirne JGP, Itoge, and Jac Morgan.

Jac morgan and tomos williams. They wont make the 23. They'll be taken for midweek games.

Returning to this briefly after seeing the sides chosen by ex-Scarlet John Barclay and Sam Warburton:

They picked broadly similar teams as follows:

Barclay:

Porter, Sheehan, Fagerson, Beirne, Itoje, Darge, Doris, T Curry

Gibson-Park, Crowley, Lawrence, Jones, Lowe, Graham, Kinghorn

(My bankers in bold)

Warburton the same apart from:

1. Genge in place of Porter; 6. Morgan in place of T. Curry; 10. Prendergast in place of Crowley; 12. Aki in place of Jones with Lawrence at 13... so only four changes.

To comment on the backs first: I agree with Barclay about the 10 - Crowley has more experience, and on what we saw is a better kicker. He's certainly more physical. Both mentioned Russell and Smith - I'd definitely take Russell who can be a genius level player, though as we saw on Saturday can have complete blanks, too... Smith is good bit a bit over-hyped like all England players of the last 60 years (in my personal experience). If three 10s go, then Russell and Smith, with Russel in the test team IF his brain is working.

I also agree with Barclay about the centres - Aki and Lawrence are surely too similar, and Jones offers more variety than both... but they all travel. (Warburton does acknowledge this point in his comments.)

Forwards:

Morgan was the outstanding Wales player in a lost cause... but too small for a 6 IMO. No one really stood above the others apart from Darge at 7. Doris has a good case at 8 but he's in an excellent Irish team.

At 1. I prefer Porter who has always seemed a monster - Genge another over-hyped English player IMO - maybe livelier in the loose, but for scrummaging I'd have Porter every day.

2. Sheehan just back from injury and already looking the best hooker in the 6N.

There is still a lot to play for and a long way to go.

Crowley? He's not even first choice for his country.

At last, the discussion is getting serious.

Personally I'd make him captain as he's guaranteed his starting place

Think Lawes will have a chance. As for Owen he is hardly taking France by storm. Don't see him earning his spot. His dad is nothing if not sensible. There are some decent 6's around with Baird, our Tadgh & Cunningham-South. Personally I would take Tadgh as starting 6 with Lawes as back up.
