Sad day, but inevitable,  is the announcement  of Elinor Snowsill's retirement today.
Nice to step away from the "hot air", surrounding  the men's WC selection,  for a minute and ponder the contribution  of a remarkable  woman, who has contributed  so much to Welsh women's rugby.
She played in an era, when Wales weren't  always great, and prior  professional  contracts, an embarrassment , culminating  in a 45 point defeat at home to Ireland.

Elinor however was always the consummate  professional,  always encouraging  the younger players , even when things were tough.
She was a great controller, with a good kicking game, and if she was younger , would have benefited  hugely from the new professional  status.
Such an intelligent  girl, polished and articulate,  in both Welsh an English.  Her new coaching  role at Cardiff Met , will surely support  and assist in unearthing a new generation  of Welsh players.

Finally, how brave she has been ,to keep going despite the torrent of sexist abuse she endured at times from men online, and occasionally,  in person. As a gay woman, or just as a top female athlete, some men seem to take delight in being misogynistic . Very sad.

I salute you a Elinor and thank you for everything  you have given to the game in Wales.
Let's look forward to the next chapter  of  your  involvement.

Nice touch Pimp! Very solid player for Wales and always came over well in interviews. Good to see her knowledge remains in the Women game.

Excellent player for Wales and role model for younger players.
