Bookies are usually right and England have been favourites from day one. No surprise as they world class players throughout the squad.

Its " Not coming home", abd I take no delight saying that.
Spain , far the better team, and have been excellent this tournament , producing some exiting football. They were quicker to the ball and seem to be winning a lot of the challenges. England showed can lot of resolve this tournament, but surely need a more attacking template to succeed. Two people (apart from the Spanish),at least are happy....me and Me & Mr Duckling Duft,.....NO BANK HOLIDAY ! |

I dont want to rub their noses in it but the idea it was coming home is a myth, england have never won the euros so its never even been home lol The spanish meanwhile were all class picking up their record 4th european championship
I love their style they tend to play carpet football great touch, technqiue movement and generally dominate possession.....Their sublime it reminds of how Carwyn taught about passing in rugby....Gentle sort of a pass in front of the receiver allowing him time to run onto the ball with momentum....Its sort of obvious and yet so often players fail to distribute effectively.England did well though and should be a force at the next world cup

Good post Roy. I like the description "carpet football" and the analogy with Carwyn.. "the gentle type of pass" ! For all their silky skills, Spain's "press" hurried England, and quite of they won the physical battle, which surprised me.

Managed to catch about 10 mins of live action in the whole tournament. Saw some of the discussions.

The only positive for England is the emergence of some of their younger players getting good game time.

He’s been a credit to his country and employers. Decent and honourable man. He still has the best England manager achievements since Sir Alf Ramsey. Wonder if he will get his gong now?
