Just testing the waters for a potential third tour. Any interest out there. Game is on the 7th December which is a Saturday.

A brilliant city with so much to discover. The match timing might curtail Saturday lunch but dinner can start early.
We’ve been twice, iirc, and both times have been victories. A lovely spot for the weekend away.

I would be interested. It looks like Stansted out on Friday, back Monday less that £100 return.

Last time flew Thursday to Bordeaux, beautiful city, from Bristol. Train to Bayonne, match day one night stay and back to Bordeaux for Sunday night plane home Monday.

We’ve spent 2 nights in Bayonne each time we’ve travelled and the best part of 2 days, too. There’s so much to see and explore that’s enjoyable, there were no thoughts of going even to Biarritz.

Another option while your there as not much is open in Bayonne on a Sunday is to get a day return to Bordeaux for their home game against Leicester

Ok the options seem as follows -
6/12 Ryanair Stansted 1410 Biarritz 1705; 9/12 Biarritz 1415 Stansted 1510 about £100 plus luggage requirements; 6/12 Easyjet Bristol 1030 Bordeaux 1305; 8/12 Bordeaux 2150-2225 Bristol same price. Personally I favour the 3 night option as Sunday is a good time to see the city & the Castres trip a number of us enjoyed a meal together which was good. I have a transfer cost from PYS to Stansted of £850 for a 16 seat minibus. The overall travel amount is more or less the same as Bordeaux to Bayonne is 120 miles whilst Biarritz to Bayonne is less than 4 miles. We have 5 who have expressed an interest; realistically we could do with a minimum of 10/12. Let me know folks & I will get booking.

OK we now have 6 confirmed. We also have 4-6 expressions of interest but not decided. If anyone who is considering could get back to me by the weekend I could get the flights sorted soon.

Now we have 8no confirmed with 6no still considering - the tour doctors are our latest additions - a must of have for aging expeditioners!!!! Ryanair's baggage allowances are a little different from Easyjets so those confirmed see below the info from our Fever Two trip confirmation. Ryanair's website was down this morning for maintenance so can't get Stansted flights updated costs but sizes won't very.
Ryanair - free cabin 40cm x 20cm x 25cm; large cabin extra - 10kgs; hold extra cost 20kgs. 23/09/2024 Ryanair from Marco Polo 0945 to Bristol 1105 £75, large cabin £27, hold £37. Hoping to book flights/baggage on Monday to give the 6no adequate time to decide.

OK flights for 10no booked. 4 with 10kg carry on bags @ £147.48; 3 with 20kg hold bags @ £169.46 & 3 with small carry on bags @ £112.98.
Transfers from PYS/Stansted/PYS booked at £850 with capacity of 16no so we still have some room for late tourists. Free cancellation rooms booked for 10no at Hotel Le Bayonne. Transfers from Biarritz airport to Bayonne & match tickets to follow.

On the subject of transfers from Biarritz airport to the hotel in Bayonne. This is a really short journey ( 15 minutes). I am mindful that many appreciate the ease of being met at arrivals & deposited at the front of the hotel. Looking at budget costs we would be looking at around 250 euros return for 10 of us in a 15 seater. Alternatively individual taxi are going to be around 20 euros one way. Lets say 3 taxis each way we would be looking at 120 euros. Thoughts please.
