It's noteworthy that despite the new Welsh coach being unveiled some 48 hours ago, there is no mention of it anywhere on this forum

I'm hardly surprised as it's quite possible the least inspiring appointment in living memory (apart from the appointment of half of Ireland to the Lions coaching roles that is)

The only thing that could have made the announcement worse was the statement by Downturn Abi that she refuses to fall on her sword

It doesn't have its own thread but it was discussed on a different one... can't remember which, but a recent one.

Initially I was uninspired (and we discussed the optics of it leaking 5 months ago and there being a big hoo-ha about how Reddin was going to back in and be rigorous etc. and yet 5 months later...)

But after reading around a bit, getting some more info, this might be a cloud with a silver lining. Being less of a name, being lowkey, might just suit the situation and give him time with less pressure to build. It's clearly a long-term success appointment not a quick fix because of his experience and track record. He's going to be in Wales, he's a great defence coach, a good collaborator by all accounts and players and coaches alike seem to like and respect him.

As a 'name' it's underwhelming, but I'm warming to the idea that it could work.

Hopefully, we are at the bottom of our slide down the rankings and can begin to work our way up.

On that other thread I put forward the thought that it can’t get much worse than the last 2 years. Our fixture list will need to be tailored a bit to help get a few wins.

As RBP said above and others on whatever that other thread was, it does have the makings of it being a decent start to the new national team regime. The appointment of the rest of the team will be a reflection of Dave Reddin’s input.

Also, the lack of a thread on its own may indicate that this forum is far more concerned about events relating to our club and the other pro clubs in private hands than anything else, other than WRU (in)abilities.

Agree Steve.
It will be a hard road ahead.
I stopped watching  Wales last season. Its a hell of an admission  from a lifelong rugby fan, but the truth of it was I found it too upsetting.
Sixty point home defeat at home to England..unacceptable  !
I look after my wife , and have to think of her...my anger and  and frustration is also unacceptable..so its best to give its a miss.
Let's hope that changes and at very least,  some pride restored.

the wru sre a disaster. i can’t see anything getting better for 5 years or more.  our  test squad is poor , tandy is an average coach and our age group sides are average.  our leadership looks dreadful and there is nothing to be optimistic about imo

Whilst I can agree about the shambles I would respectfully remind both pimp & roy that this is only a game we are talking about. Anger, frustration, painful are not words I would use. Lets not write Tandy off before he starts. He is well thought off by players, is Welsh & will live in Wales. He won't be trying to manage a team from the beach in New Zealand which has to be a plus.

Whatever happened to judging someone by their performance. For sure this squad have a long way to go & there are a few hammerings around the corner but bois bach just sit back & enjoy the journey because the sun will still come up in the morning regardless.
