What a game. Usual power by boks 22-0 up but 2nd half Aussies cut them up big time.
Honestly if Australia had played 1 or 2 more warm up games they would have beat the lions.
Boks, not sure if it was just rustiness, over confidence or maybe their team getting a little old. Aussies defence was superb

22-0 to 22-38 by the end.

That's a swing of 60 points on the scoreboard.

Has there ever been a bigger swing in a match between tier 1 nations? I doubt it very much.

I'd have liked to see that game!

Australia had a large number of players unavailable for the first Lions test. They showed how much better than the Lions they were with a strong team in the 3rd test. Had today’s team been available I think they would have won the series 3-0.

Nche (30)
Marx (31)
Louw (31)
De Jager (33)
Etzebeth (34)
Du Toit (33)
Van Staden (30)
Kolisi (34)
Esterhuizen (31)
Kriel (31)

10 of the starting XV along with 24 of the 37 man squad being +30 years old.

Not looking great for the RWC.

On a side note, it looks as if Australia are better than we thought! The English/Scottish,Welsh should be thankful for the Irish carrying the test side afew weeks ago otherwise not only would Australia have won but possibly 3-0!

Ireland not much better age wise too
Thoroughly enjoyable game as a neutral.
Nearly gave up at ,22-0 but Aussie scored just before half time and nothing else to watch.
2nd half worth a look at highlights when it's on YouTube
Aussies defence and counter attack superb.
Boks looked rusty lost but there is a weakness there that few can take
Argues blacks could be good game tonight

The average age of the Irish side is 28.6, for SA its 30.6. In rugby terms that’s a great deal better. For context, come the 2027 RWC Ireland will, at worst, have an XV on par with SA right now age wise!

Just goes to show how the narrative can change depending on the team involved.

The SA backline were poor ( and I'm being polite).

Rumour has it that the competition for this seasons shirt sponsor is quite hot with Wilshire Farm foods, werther's original and Tena all seeing brand value. Wink

Well, what a game to watch. SA porous in defence second half. No leadership once Kolisi went off. Rassi must be having some sort of existential crisis.
What's going on?

The Aussies were the better team for 5 of the halves of rugby they played against the lions, they were blown away in the first half of the first test against the lions and also made changes too early in the second test, had it not been for that they would have won the lions series 3-0.
