Some sense being talked already on selection. Joe & I both know that 12 is his best position & thats where he needs to play. OK Sam is back so an easy say at the moment. Time will tell if/when Sam is unavailablr whether Nigel backs his youngsters.
We are watching Nigel but at least early doors you are talking to the supporters.

His Comms are very good to be fair.
I thought his articulation of his role, relationship with Dwayne and how the role came about was excellent. Same with his statement on Hawkins and 10/12, very positive and his position is clear. He's experienced, been round the block and this comes across. I looked through his results with us in his previous stint and he took us from the bottom of the league to play off contenders (hence why he got the Gloucester job). My one doubt is his absence from the game and therefore whether he's familiar with more recent tactics/coaching/conditioning.

We have to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. He always came across as a student of the game so there is hope.

Other than Regan King (and Regan credits Nigel with improving him as an inside centre) Nigel Davies was the best and classiest inside centre I’ve seen playing for the Scarlets so he knows a thing or two about the 12 position. In the same way he can improve Joe I hope he can improve Eddie and Jonny if he stays.

Agree with this, his boy is playing at a good level, I can't see Nigel as someone who wouldn't keep up to date with modern rugby |

Nigel always talked a good game fair play.
"Aironi is always a tricky place to go' has lived long in my memory. Nobody should be complimented-let alone rewarded-for seeing that Hawkins should not be picked at 10...the fact that he's been allowed to play outside half is a key indicator of the absolute state of the club (both on and off the field),and the circumstances of his recruitment need thorough examination. nigel is a bright guy but lets be honest bringing some 1 in who has not coached at a pro level in over ten years is a huge gamble and i can’t think of many clubs who have done this in recent times. the day to day coaching should be fine as we have people in place to do that. we have not sacked peel hoping he resigns due to the reduced position he now has so we don’t need to pay him off. im surpised he hasn’t gone on the sick as he looks ashen and un well. i like nigel and wish him well but this suggests there is no faith in anyone in our current coaching set up or theyd have been promoted

Any chance of Nigel bringing his son in to help us at 10 for a bit?

Playing Hawkins at 12 is a good starting point, common sense at last.

Its my understanding the Nigel is temporary DoR not coach. Dwayne retains that job but now reporting to Nigel. If Dwayne resigns, then I am sure a new head coach will be targeted and Nigel will stand down. Scott Robinson is currently out of work, so maybe he could do the job? |

I believe that Hawkins was signed as a 10 at the request of the WRU and Gatland. With Gatland gone and Sherratt looking to pick a playmaker at 12, any future for Hawkins with Wales is now surely at 12. Unfortunately if Costellow is unavailable, Hawkins is pretty much the only option at 10 for the Scarlets until the youngsters develop their skills. |

Just a quick question for everyone. If you was the head coach and someone was brought in to select the team and dictate team tactics, would you remain on post or resign?

But then could you play a youngster in that role with someone who has a bit more experience at 12 and certainly has a 10 skill set ie ability to kick/pass. |

GPR I've always been a voice for playing players in their preferred positions, always ....common sense from Nigel already its like a breath of fresh air tbh. |

This is a difficult question to answer and only Peel can answer. If the Scarlets are truly trying to help Dwayne then he might see this as a pressure release and taking burden off his shoulders and it might work out. Will it help the players improve? I’m not sure and will Dwayne be truly invested in this new approach - I’m not convinced he will. Personally if I was in this position I would feel the management have no confidence in me, it’s effectively a demotion and I would be looking elsewhere for a job.

He was a clever centre , he's articulate and intelligent, great start but the performances are the real test for him, i expect improvement tbh. |
