Having been at Northampton on Sunday I have not seen the game back.

So can anyone explain how Jake Ball was knocked out ?

Hearing off a couple of people who watched the game on  tv , there could have been foul play involved .

No news on this Mark

Brutal stuff tbh.

In 1972, Roy Bergiers scored that try and said "that was for you lofty"

"All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us"

He got hit in the head by a shoulder/arm from an upright Pollock. The ref deemed it a “rugby incident” somehow and not even worthy of a penalty.

I was sitting at the end of the ground where the incident happened, and noticed that as Jake left the field Pollock tapped him on the shoulder, so to my mind Pollock was definitely involved. It is the tackler's responsibility to ensure that no head contact occurs. An upright Pollock makes it even more surprising that no action was taken.

Thought it strange at the time that no action was taken. Jake was being teated for quite a while, when suddenly the ref made the 'screen' sign and went to the other end of the ground to review the incident.

In my experience, when the TMO draws the ref's attention to an incident, some action is usually taken, but none on this occasion.

Hope Jake is ok and recovers swiftly. Have to say, his commitment to the Scarlet cause has been inspirational. Unbelievable effort every game, carries hard and hits those rucks. 100% every game.
Best re-signing ever! LOL

From memory Jake was dropping his height whilst carrying and Pollock had dropped his height also, but not enough and it ended up being shoulder on shoulder before slipping up to the face.

So if my memory is right (could very well not be) then it could be argued either way if Pollock should of been penalised, but I wouldn't put any blame on him to be honest. Hope Jake is okay of course, looked concerning at the time.

Didn't look like any foul play to me. Jake low, Pollock possibly going for the rip, just accidental head contact.

TBF there was nothing in it,think Ball caught a elbow but he's had a lot of head knocks so more prone to getting them I guess.

Jake got knocked out by a direct hit to the head. Yes, he was leaning forward as he ran, and for me that’s enough mitigation to bring the sanction down from red card to yellow card, but he didn’t suddenly dip so I find it bizarre that it wasn’t deemed to be an offence.

There was nothing conclusive to prove foul play, it was just a rugby collision for me. Ball was a big miss but the boys done us proud on the day playing the Nigel Davies way.

In their loss to Bordeaux and against us last weekend, I thought Pollock showed some (previously unobserved by me) class in having friendly chats with Bordeaux players after the result was beyond doubt, even with those who’d had flashpoints in the match with.

He also seemed to showed a softer side to his nature on Sunday, although I didn’t see it as much as the previous weekend.

Like others above, as much as I’d have liked there to have been a card for him so that we had a numerical advantage, it was a « rugby incident » imo.
