Almost all of this is due to the efforts of Stephen Lawrence's parents, Doreen and Neville, as well. Their actions and words touched the whole nation, black or white. The fought for 19 years to get the culprits charged: 19 years.

Sadly, I don't personally believe Stephen or his family got justice. History shows us that he and his friend were treated appallingly at the scene, and the family were led a merry dance by an incompetent, and disinterested policeforce. However, the change his death brought about in British policing, legislation and race relations policies is staggering.

But, his death, and the phenomenal effort of the famuily to pursue the scum through both the civil and criminal courts, left a legacy that will resonate for decades. Excellent post.
