On Sky Sport News earlier saying that he did feel resentment towards Gats for dropping him, and that Gats would definately not be on his Xmas card list.
Whilst he acknowledged Foxy has had a tidy game, he stated that he still had to back himself and felt he could have done a job at 13.
Sad, imo, to see a great player failing to accept something that was obvious to most non Irish rugby fans. Not doing his reputation any favours, but nicely stokes the fires for the 6N I suppose

BOD is in the twilight of his career and it is really sad that he can't see that foxy was the in-form player on the tour and for him to think that he deserved a place on history alone is quite sad.
BOD had two tests to prove himself and personally don't think he made a mark to guarantee his place in the 3rd test. |

Very sad that the Irish keep on dragging this up, I'd have thought that BOD himself would be man enough to admit that Foxy deserved the spot but hey.
Must be gutting to miss out on a spot in a Lions series-winning side ![]() No doubt it could be a bit spicy when Foxy and BOD face each other on the pitch next time!! |

No one man is bigger than the team. This sounds more like conceit to me and it is also disrespectful of Foxy who did nothing more than play his game with dignity. BOD and Fester need to get a grip and rest on their respective laurels.

Heaslip not realise he was lucky to start the first 2 tests. Faletau was one of the players of the tour and deserved his chance. Really is sour grapes, and very sad to see.

I can understand them saying that they felt they were good enough to be playing the final game, after all they are not going to say "well I am not up to the standards that these welsh boys are" as it would be bad for the moral of Irish rugby. However it is rather sad that going into a new season, when they should be saying positive stuff about the year to come, they are still hung up on moaning about something that was over a few months ago.

This is absolutely fing pathetic! What a bunch of kids throwing their toys out of the pram, bod is on his way out didnt do anything in the lions and precious to that was the stamping incident showing his frustration to losing to the Italians. Truly priceless entertainment. Shaming to the nation. They go on about being in the first 2 tests so clearly from the results they should understand gats made the right decision by following it up with a record score! Knobs!

Add BOD to O'Connell and Keith Wood...3 guys in the public eye, and playing/played at the very top level (and that I had a load of time for) that have completley embarassed themselves over this.

What is truly astounding is that their whinges completely fail to have any regard to their own performances in the first and second test, and lets not forget we were luck to win the first, and the fact that Toby and Foxy were not only excellent in the Third Test, but Foxy was arguably one of the most consistent performers on tour. Clearly winning the HEC gives you a somewhat delusional sense of your own place in the world.

I'm not sure it's that. In the Heaslip article above, he mentions that BOD is treated like royalty in Ireland. I think these guys are hyped up so much in their precious provincial bubbles that they and their fans honestly think they have some sort of divine right to be starting any rugby XV they have been chosen to represent. Perhaps it's a bi-product of sport in Ireland, they don't get the consensus from over the sea? Who knows. Fervent support is one thing. And it's obviously a good thing. Bulding your players up to be something they are clearly not, is another. This one always made be smile:

i have said it for some time and the attitude alot of the irish fans/players/press had during the lions tour proved me right.
i used to enjoy wales v ireland games. the banter was great, the fans were friendly, the press even had some banter. but of late, they have adopted more of an arrogance than the english media (who at least i suppose can boast a world cup!). i can not understand where the arrogance has come from.
i used to hold BOD in high regard on and off the pitch. it is a crying shame that he is acting the same way as Keith Wood, Willi John McBryde etc.
When a Lions side gives a near perfect performance, scoring nearly 50 points, take off the chip on your shoulder and say Gatland...you got it right.
foxy did not have a "tidy" game in that match. he gave the performance of his career imo and seeing that he had been tormented by the public, as well as the media, to still go in and give a performance like that shows he is worthy of wearing the shirt...ill be honest, BOD was not in my centres to go on the trip. he had done nothing to me all season to warrent a place on the plane to australia but his past went before him....when he played, did he play himself into the test side? i did not think so. Foxy was a beast in every single game he played. and in that final test, he had a hand in every try, he tackled everything, and everything good that happened, he was a part of it.
Gatland not on BODs xmas card list?? shame, i doubt Gatland cares tbh.
Gatland was appointed as Lions coach to deliver the victory out in australia. job done.
BOD is nowhere near the player he was. the irish can harp on about it for as long as they want, but the fact of the matter is, a new king of centres was born on that tour, the crown has long left BOD...foxy is the main man now.
was it last year the new zealand press chose him as the best 13 in the world over there own conrad smith!? that imo are comments foxy should take note from...not the bitter irish words.
