With the regional side using the Llanelli Scarlets name, should we be marketing the semi pro side under another moniker ... Llanelli Something. Llanelli isn't a great chanting name, and beyond the town, people don't really get it that there are two separate sides at Stradey. I read one Western Mail article which called the semi pros the Reds, but that was probably more a journalistic dig rather than an official name change. I for one think it vital that we keep the name and badge of Llanelli RFC, but that we develop a moniker which has strong links to the town, so the side can, in marketing and profile terms, live and develop outside the shadow of the regional Scarlets. |

Maybe we can just revert back to the old days when Sospan Fach was heard around the ground.

The region of Llanelli scarlets need to distance itself from llanelli rfc. there should be seperate web sites for both teams, whenever do we get team news for the semi-pro's on the website. never.... The only influence gyppo should have on the semi-pro's is which players he picks and whom from the region gets to go there. he shouldn't have control on the coaching staff or the style of play or the positions of the players. Llanelli rfc should be like the other 3 feeder clubs at this level of the pyramid structure. could you really see Llandovery, Quins and Narberth being told who their coaches were? |

You're quite right. Llanelli RFC is treated like the reserve teams you get in football, not a rugby team in its own right. This is a side fighting for a title. Maybe an individual identity and a press launch would do it good and get more fans interested. Anyone for Llanelli Redsox

because they are not the scarlets!!! Regional rugby forced our hand to rebrand our side to become the Llanelli Scarlets and thus promoting the U21's to Llanelli RFC. The Scarlets and Llanelli RFC are 2 seperate entities and should be treated thus. As a region, we haven't fully gripped onto this, The Llanelli RFC club side should have it's own website, own coaches and run totally independantly from the Scarlets, obviously with the situation of the ground share then the money side of the problem is a different matter, but if we look at this from a history point of view it is actually The Scarlets who are lodgers at Llanelli RFC. It has already been brought to attention at the club the bias shown to Llanelli RFC at Scarlets games when they were only giving information on Llanelli RFC games and not on the other feeder clubs, this has now been addressed by information on other feeder club games being given out. |

I just want something to shout at Llanelli RFC games. I keep on wanting to shout Scarlets, but it's a bit silly to do that. Come on semi pros, give us something to shout! Until then, it'll be 'c'mon the boys' or maybe 'haway the lads' for sure!!! |

Totally agree with everything, distinct lack of identity for the semi-pro's living under the shadow of the region.

Disagree 200% if thats possible. Llanelli RFC have had the `nickname` the Scarlets` for many, many years. The regional team ARE CALLED `The Scarlets` spot the subtle difference........ For me, both teams will always be the scarlets. Do Newport supporters chant `NOOOOPOOORT` at regional AND club games? I think you will find they do. |

Change your signature then If I remember correctly, in the 80's the club had a problem with the welsh shop in the market reproducing shirts with the llanelli rfc logo on it. they lost due to the logo not being a registered trademark, thus the change in the logo to the dragon. If the nickname the scarlets becomes a registered trademark then the club will definitely have to distance the 2 entities, due to trademark laws... Edited by salmidach |

I find the odd shout of "Turks" or "The Town" fits quite nicely, don't mind the term "Turks" me.
