A report in the Guardian says his contract will be terminated within 72 hours......he was scheduled to take charge of the Wales v England game on Saturday.
3 strikes & your out apparently. Thoughts...

Alledgedly ( just my thoughts) he whispered " hope Wales thrash the English" in his sleep overheard by MI5, passed on to the English coaching camp... |

This sounds mightily like the last time he was 'sacked'. Could it be old news?

Could be something to do with this: http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/super-rugby/8373700/Conrad-Smith-shrugs-off-tussle-with-Walsh
This story may have legs, but it would be a hell of a call in the week running up to the 6N decider!! A video clip of the incident: http://balls.ie/rugby/rugby-ref-steve-walsh-takes-exception-to-conrad-smith-getting-in-his-way/ Edited by haydn_davies - 11 March 2013 at 7:57am |

Don't believe this one.
I quite like Walsh actually, I know he has a huge ego and maybe doesn't understand the scrum, but at least he tries to keep the game flowing. Plus seems like a decent guy to have a pint with after the game.

Wasn't that HAD a drinking problem.... On Wednesday 18 March 2009, it was announced that Walsh would lose his job after a third strike on his record [4] - this time turning up drunk to a refereeing conference in Sydney.[5] Wayne Barnes took over from Walsh as referee of the grand slam deciding match in Cardiff on the 21st. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Walsh_%28rugby_referee%29 But then again we know how accurate wikipedia can be at times |

Well, if he has been sacked, it's a loss. He was the best referee of the three at the weekend ( admittedly not difficult!) and that wikipedia entry states he was the Super Rugby referee of the year last year.
