Our strategy of picking 3 sixes and kicking aimlessly and adopting a passive defence has made a far deeper impression on the Welsh coaches than it has on Scarlets supporters and it was so successful today that we shall probably persist with it for another season or two. Hope Adam Warren plays next Saturday. Can't really see what either of those playing in the centre today did to deserve being retained.

mcckusker is a good play- when he play 6. Coombes and King were non existent today. we should have started with 6 Mcckusker, 7 Navidi and 8 Pretorious. Thats a good back row (or the best available). Bevington had a poor game. Emyr did us proud, Andrews did well, Bradley did well, and reed was ok. Lloyd williams was slow and flat (maybe because the forwards were poor) Bighead did well, the wingers were good when they had the ball. Owen williams did well, spratt a pratt, and Liam solid and crucial to the back play.

well I don't know whether to admire muckbryde or pour scorn on him? a pretty audacious selection which came within a whisker of humilification.....personally Id have gone with a more balanced approach and taken at least some experience , Id also have looked at gareth delve if he was available....also the decision to give biggar the shepherds crook was pretty odd...on the upside I like the look of king and bevington, Bradley started to impose himself, Phillips went well and a great try by harry bach...liam was hot and cold but his total commitment to everything really cajoled the side....the downside, we have no 8, some of the breakdown work by the pack in general was powder puff, the poor mans derwyn jones , mr lou reed certainly didn't take any walks on the wild side ,as ever he failed to blow the skin off a rice pudding, heck he didn't even lend Bradley a serving spoon....

It shows that, if we fail to get a tidy 8 this summer, we're going to struggle again with go forward from the back row. McCusker doesn't cut it at 8.

Correct. The display also showed what happens when you have 3 6's in your back row and not genuine players playing in the correct positions. God knows why Navidi didn't start. |

Is McCusker a points liability?
He draws more than the fair share of cards, that's for certain. This tour is his opportunity to shout for the flanker berth, after playing out of position for us this last season. |

I would imagine that we'll see a far more balanced back row next week - Coombes/Pretorius/Navidi should offer a pretty exciting combination targeting the breakdown area aggressively.
