The Saints Supporters Club is bringing a coachload down for the LV Cup game on 7th November.

Where's the best place for a pre-match drink? Is it the Village, or is there another bar aty the ground that you would recommended instead?

Depends how early before the game you arrive and what the party is made up off, if you have kids with you then the barn is the place to head, if no kids then you might like to try one of the 3 pubs next to the ground, there is a choice of 3, The Halfway, The Pemberton or The Sensible Oak, all 3 are within 200yds of the ground, either way its definitely worth calling to the barn for one before entering the stand, especially if your seated in the North stand.

Sensible Oak LMAO
LOL LOL It looked sensible in there when I popped in to have a nose last time I was down Thumbs Up

Hi Sarge, and welcome to the forum Thumbs Up If you are a coach load, probably best just to head in to the barn to be honest (you also have the concourse bars too under the stands), at least you'll all be together and there is plenty of space.

Either of the three suggested pubs are ideal, although, the Pemberton/Beefeater doesn't have a huge bar area inside, but if you are quite happy to have a few beers outside, then it is fine. The Halfway is a good shout, a proper old school public house with character for sure, and the beer isn't expensive. The Sensible Oak is just, well, sensible LOL

An even better attempt, but I think "Sessile Oak" is correct:

Sessile oak (Quercus petraea) is a deciduous broadleaf tree native to the UK and most of Europe.

It differs only subtely from English, or pedunculate oak, and the two spceies often hybridise. Sessile oak is widely planted outside its natural range.

Wouldn't the "Pedunculate Oak" be a great name for a pub?

But FWIW, the "Sensible Oak" is even better, IMHO!LOL
