Any news on this, there's nothing on the RFC website.

This is actually a really important announcement for us, the amount of players in our first team who started off with the RFC is very high. I get the feeling that last seasons team didn't have the best prospects and we need to continue that development pathway. Our contribution to the U20s this year also isn't great so we need to find promising youngsters outside the academy system.

FAREWELL TO BUCK

By M.John | 09/06/2015

After 10 seasons as Head of Rugby for Llanelli RFC (and over 30 years service to the Scarlets.) Anthony Buchanan is stepping down.

Due to Anthony’s appointment as National Appointed Director to the WRU Board and also running a busy Chemical Business Acorn Chemical (http://www.acornchemical.com ) he feels he needs to concentrate on his WRU role after being elected to several Committees and representing the WRU on the World Rugby Council.

Llanelli RFC have now appointed Kevin George as the new Head of Rugby. Kevin was Head Coach last season and has been involved with the Scarlets Academy and Llanelli for 15 years.

Also, last seasons Forwards Coach Ioan Cunningham has taken up a role as forwards Coach with the Scarlets, so we congratulate Ioan.

Kevin George will be finalizing his Coaching team shortly.

After a disappointing season last year, we have made some exciting signings for the new season, which started tonight June 9th with Conditioning at Parc Y Scarlets.

Dion Jones, Full Back (returning from Carmarthen Quins).
Richard Williams, Wing (Swansea, Llandovery).
Andrew Spowart, Wing (Tata Steel).
Elliott Dawe, Wing (Felinfoel).
Nathan Edwards, Centre (ex-Osprey Academy, Wales U20).
Paul Davies, Centre (Swansea, Bedwas).
Josh Guy, Scrum-half (Swansea University).
Connor Salter, Scrum-half (Bonymaen).
Tom Kaijaks, Tight Head (Felinfoel).
Jack Jones, 2nd Row / Back Row,   Scarlets training squad   (Wales U20, Ospreys, Rovigo).
Adam Williams, 2nd Row (ex-Ospreys Academy).
Trystan Lloyd, Back-row (Lampeter).
Jack Condy, No.8, Scarlets squad (Cross Keys).

Also out of the development structure -
Kalum Evans, Full Back.
Matthew Owen, Centre.
Matthew Pearce, Centre.
Shaun Pearce, Wing.
Billy McBryde, Centre / Outside Half.
Declan Smith, Scrum-half
Rhys Fawcett, Prop.
Josh Mcleod, Back Row.
Shaun Edwards, Back Row.
Matthew Moore, Hooker.
Richard Bassett, Prop.

There are more signings pending, which will be announced on the Llanelli RFC website, along with our pre season fixtures which kicks off in Kidwelly on Saturday 15th of August.

Jack Jones is the standout there. Couple of years ago he was thought to have potential to be a top player.

He's been playing in the Federale 1 for a season which is a decent standard, its the third division in France.

Yeah remember him being a good player at U20, spending a season on loan at Rovigo and then disappearing off the face of the earth, nice to see him here

Yeah, that's a good mix there. Still gutted Dwayne Eager has gone, but hopefully there is enough in that squad to compete this year.

Good to see Dion back and looking forward to seeing Jack Jones play.

Great to see these details, looking forward to seeing how they gel. Will be a very different team next term.

So Jack Jones is also in Scarlets training squad...along with Jack Condy.

Boost of a lock there for the region possibly. Wonder if there is any shape on Adam Williams, ex Osprey Academy lock. One place where their development is top notch is front five forwards.

Ospreys also have a much bigger catchment area than we have (rugby playing population-wise) and with the dissolution of the Warriors it got even bigger. When we are looking for physically tall and powerful players they will always be at an advantage and it's not surprising that we will have to give a chance to those who haven't quite made it with them.

What sort of lock is Jack Jones? With Haydn Pugh, Jack Jones, Lee Taylor and Adam Williams all about maybe one will be able to step up and be our 5th lock?
