Leicester tigers being investigated as well, it seems like nobody sees the threat of being fined or relegated to the championship as a deterrent.
Saracens happily accepted relegation and were able to walk their way through the championship and back into the Premiership, such was the quality of the squad they had put together in the years that they were flouting the rules.  The only key player they lost during their season in the championship to others teams was Liam (to us), the others either returned home to SA, moved to France or went on loan (like Tompkins to the dragons).  They didn’t lose any players on a permanent basis to other premiership teams, suggesting that they were either out of their reach (financially) or deemed not good enough for the wages their were commanding or expecting to earn.

Not totally true Legend - they permanently lost Ben Spencer, Singleton the England squad hooker, Rhys Carre & Liam that I can recall. However you are right - they still have the big hitters money wise in Itoje, Farrell & the Vunipolas with only one marquee allowed next season that should be interesting. Also they are losing Vincent Koch next season.

I stand corrected GPR, thank you.  However, that still only makes 5 from a squad of 40 - 50 players (majority of whom were internationals).  Considering that they dropped into the championship and had to play in front of smaller crowds, received a small competition budget and also lost all of their major sponsors inc their only ground sponsor (as a result of being found out).

Yes it doesn't really stack up. I can't imagine they would be anything other than squeeky clean after what they've been through but you never know. I would imagine the salary cap manager will be all over them & quite right too.

On another budget related topic good interview given recently by Buttress where he takes aim at Leinster who spend double what he has at the Dragons saying the URC should follow the Gallagher & Top 14 & introduce a salary cap. Kid A has been making more or less that point for quite a while in fairness.

Just watched the 1st half of the blues v harlequins (14-12).  The blues are playing well but can’t cope with the physical strength of the Quins pack and Marcus Smith’s kicking game.
A really enjoyable match, 4 tries so far, many more to come.
Blues down to 14 for the first 8/9 minutes of the second half, sometimes it’s inevitable that a yellow card is coming if you concede too many pens in the red zone, I was thinking that sometimes you may be better off conceding tries than getting cards, as just like tonight the quins scored a try straight from the next phase of play, which is like a double whammy.

They need a tidy player to replace Amos.

Both Beetham and Winnett showed some good glimpses last month.

Cardiff blew that tonight. 7 points up on 66 minutes and a very kickable penalty was kicked to touch.  I can't see why, they already had a try bonus point.  They were the better side for a lot of that game apart from being taken apart in the scrum.  They moved the ball well and scored some cracking tries.

Good game to watch for the neutral. If Carre gets selected for the Wales squad it will be a travesty. Cardiff's scrum improved when Domachowski came on. Priestland was brought on to steer them home but got caught up in the excitement - not going for a drop goal and running it out of his 22 in the last minute with little support. Owen Lane looked sharp & I thought Seb Davies is starting to show why he is thought a lot of - good lineout forward & good hands in the loose. Tomas Williams carried over the line from over 5 metres out by that massive powerful No 9 Care!!!!! He really is a liability defensively.

You're right re.Williams-his botched clearance following a turnover just before 1/2 time proved very costly,as was the decision to replace Evans.Lane played very well.Turnbull and Boyde?...wish you were here, perhaps.

Yes Dic that boy Turnbull just keeps going & going. Play him at 5 or 6 and he does his job. Not the biggest physically but his heart is enormous and he very rarely misses a game. Boyde could well be leaving with all the back row talent signed, i'd have him back in a heartbeat. On the subject of Tomas Williams I have made no secret that I am not his greatest fan. WOL clamour for him to start for Wales & also mentioning him as Lion - I just don't see it. If Pivac wants to play with a quick tempo & a slick service from 9 to 10 he should either pick Aled Davies or Rhodri Williams. Failing that he should look at Blacker but Tomas & Hardy have not really kicked on. Cawdor will give you that running threat and he will do his defensive duties well. Start with Aled, Cawdor off the bench; no wait Aled not available......

That he is. Great all round skill set. Our 10’s have some of his attributes, but not all.
