Makes sense he has been a head coach before and he’ll be embedded in the scarlets culture/ way.

Absolutely good sense  Nothing to lose as he is on the payroll and presumably settled and has been “sussed out” by the locals on his personality, acumen and popularity with Management and Players so let’s give him a go. Who will be defence coach now is the next question 🤔

I guessed this would probably be the case, but it's good to know that a thorough process was still followed to make doubly sure that he was the best option and that there wasn't anyone else available who would potentially be better suited. As mentioned above he has head coach experience. Not as experienced as Brad by the sounds of it (though my knowledge of him isn't fantastic so anyone feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken there), but the fact that Brad chose to bring him in shows that Brad values him which is a good sign given Brad's pedigree. Should be good for continuity of what has been built this season. Good luck Delaney!

He’s a lot more experienced than Brad as a head coach and in terms of northern hemisphere rugby.
I still wake up late at night and think of what might have been when tim stimpson hit that jammy penalty1

Good news.  I think it’s the right decision.

How’s Gethin Jenkins doing in his current role? Would he be a suitable defence coach or is there already someone else signed / linked to that role?

I second that!
Let's hope he can lead us to some European success.

Oooof, for a minute I thought Laurence Delaney had been doing his coaching badges.
Let's get drunk and play ping-pong.

Seems decent enough and is well liked in the game. Not convinced he’s the same level brad is. He may have more experience but brad seems to have a higher ceiling

would think Delaney would maybe get an assistant in or a top defence coach to come in to compliment him. would hope we are looking for someone from southern hemisphere. although I would still like to see maybe Dwayne peel back with us?

My pick a few months ago for defence coach was Steve Tandy but that boat has sailed. Gethin Jenkins would be great but he has huge Blues ties. Clive Giffiths is available and did a good job admittedly years ago with Wales.

common sense pick.

hope we get in a top defence and assistant now.
we did so with Pivac/Stevo and Mooar/Delaney.
Hope we can do the same now as Delaneys assistant and defence.

Does Dwayne Peel fancy it with a view of becoming head one day? if so - that would replace the attack minded Mooar but we would still need a defence specialist IMO.
Someone who has a similar outlook on defence as Delaney would be ideal as that would make for an easier transition. Who are the guys that are out there - do we also take this time to really nail the pack as well with a damn good forwards coach? Dave Hewitt?
