I reckon we could well have 3 starters and 1 (Cawdor) on the bench for the first test.

If Liam Williams plays all 3 tests. He will have played as many test games for the Lions, as he has made appearances for us this year.

😂😂😂

Will be an interesting battle between him and Hogg for 15 shirt.

SA love a box kick/high ball, which Liam has the edge over Hoggy. But Hoggy is electric ball in hand.

2 big surprises for me:

1. No Sinckler
2. Aki in!?

Thought Foxy would have been there on reputation as Gatland has been quite loyal in the past. Perhaps he'll get his head down and start performing in the Scarlet jersey now.

I think it looks like any close call that had to be made, Gatland has gone with size/power over craft/skill.

I feel sorry for Foxy. I thought he'd make it as he always tends to perform in the biggest games even when he's not looked great prior.

Mad to think the club that contributes the most players to the Lions in 2021 is a championship club.

Saracens 5
Leinster 4
Exeter 4
Scarlets 4
Edinburgh 3
Munster 2
Ospreys 2
Bath 2
Gloucester 2
Glasgow 2
Northampton 2
Sale 1
Ulster 1
Connacht 1
Cardiff 1
Racing 1

When you look at those top 4 teams teams were in good company

This, very much this!! Goes to show that you don't have to be with an academy from a young age to make it if you're happy to work hard & keep your nose clean!
Bet the the coach that kept him out of the U16's feels a little foolish now! Class will always prevail. Da iawn pawb o'r Scarlets!

Who has played at least 1 test while being a Scarlet for the Lions in these tours?

Just listing who toured:

1989 v Oz Ieuan Evans
1993 v NZ Ieuan Evans
1997 v SA Ieuan Evans
2001 v Oz Robin McBryde, Dafydd James, Scott Quinnell
2005 v NZ Dwayne Peel, Simon Easterby
2009 v SA Matthew Rees, Stephen Jones
2013 v Oz Jon Davies, George North
2017 v NZ Jon Davies, Ken Owens, Gareth Davies, Liam Williams
2021 v SA Wyn Jones, Ken Owens, Gareth Davies, Liam Williams

A few like Stevo and Quinnell were playing for Clermont and Richmond for a couple of years.

That's 14 different players over 9 tours.

I read yesterday that Cawdor was an unused sub in 2017, twice iirc.

Either way thanks for the above.
