Agree with all the comments on here. Dark days are ahead, how we have fallen. With some players who are in the Welsh squad 30+, and us the highest funded region unless things change we are heading for some difficult years.

I've never been so worried supporting the Scarlets as I am now!

No place for sentiment. Players like Halfpenny,Foxy etc. We have been unable to control international call-ups and our squad has to be trimmed for quality. Some of our starting 15 tonight are way off the required standard.

Sorry this to me is a bigger picture than coaching. A team of that many international caps should be performing, coach or no coach. The head Coach will take the flak but a big onus has to be on the players. They are paid by the scarlets and they should perform. The same players turning out for wales produce a different level. It’s as if many players would be happy to go from international to international and regional appearances are a distraction. I hope this isn’t the case but whenever we get the internationals back they never seem to perform.

It''s a BT Sport thing.

PC probably.

Same as Seren Y Gem in Welsh

Yeah it’s also becuse Heineken have a star in their logo.

Ah right. Bit odd doing it after all these years.

Defo 50% branding, 40% PC and 10% the Welsh influence 😜

A quick game review.

Sale came to blitz us at every phase.

To counter any team blitzing perpetually, you have to regularly break the gain line, or at least carry to not concede territory.
We didn’t carry with any success really. Sale line speed and physical presence stopped and/or pushed back our carriers at every carry. I can’t actually recall a forward making much headway in the whole 80 mins.

If that happens, when the ball gets re-cycled, the backs are caught flat and wide open to the blitz, being obliged to throw quick and inaccurate passes or risk getting cut down, that happened to us time and again.
Sale’s pack marshalled our forwards and executed this facet superbly. Hats off to them.

However Sale didn’t concede scores from scrum pens, overthrow line outs, dropped regulation passes and looked generally rudderless.
That was all us, we were absolutely woeful today. As abject a performance as I care to remember.

Yes. Similar to the games against Clermont  (2012 - 14?) where we were totally outgunned again. The whole management of the game below international level in Wales has to improve. For all the regions not just us. This weekend has just hammered that home again. Welsh regions have failed to compete, on a consistent basis, for over a decade. This has to be addressed with honesty  by all concerned. Compared to Leinster, Munster (Eire has a pop of 4.9 mill so bigger than us but not hugely so and the Gaelic sports get a huge amount of cash) Welsh regions have been total failures

That was abject, went out at half time. Sorry but Dan Jones is RFC level at best, Halfpenny’s golden days are behind him. Too much to list. For the hype about the club in preseason we’re comfortably the worst in Wales. Even Dragons who we love to poke at gave it a good go yesterday and have improved. Ospreys will leave us in their wake with Booth at the helm. Too much money wrapped up in old and past it players. Seriously we go on about resigning Shingler, and he’s 33 and spent 3 years injured. This is a professional club run like amateurs right now.

We made Sale look like a great team. I think we will get a more accurate gauge of how food Sale are next week against La Rochelle. That withstanding as will stated you can't blame the coaches for a lot of the inaccurate play we witnessed tonight.
Our passing amongst the backs is dirt, allied with a complete lack of pace makes us so pedestrian and predictable.
The first try they scored in the second half resulting from Dans horror pass demonstrated how poor we are.

Dan’s thrown pass for the intercept was a classic of my above post...successive carries thrown backwards, then spin it out, Dan flat footed and blitzed by De Klerk just outside his own 22, in danger of being caught miles behind the gain line, throws a rushed pass rather than get caught.

Sale will give La Rochelle a decent run for their money.

Simply, Sale were better coached and our players were on vacation.

I think it 100% is coaching. No discipline! Look at how many red and yellow cards we’ve gotten. It’s endemic of mental failings and a systemic issue,
