Sadly it's only the 6 Tory MP's that will count in this one. There is apparently 1 dissenter among the 6.

Isn't it 15% of the MP's they need?

I think the figure is 54 MPs stating no confidence. I don't think this is now a matter of if but when. The Tory party mechanism will decide pretty quickly on a course of action which maximises their chances of winning the next election - that will be all that matters - power.
To lose an 80 seat majority would be some achievement and would set the Tory party back decades. The big question remains - is Starmer the right man to use the huge own goals Boris has presented him with? With all the ammunition at his disposal quite why I am asking that question probably answers it.

If 54 Tory MPs sign a letter of no confidence then a vote of no confidence is held. I believe it would then require half of the Tory MPs to vote they have no confidence in Boris for him to be replaced. Some MPs who don’t have confidence in him are therefore holding back from signing no confidence letters in the worry that Boris would win the vote, and they then wouldn’t be able to replace him for another 12 months.

You could not make this up !!!!
Boris has pulled out of a visit to Lancashire today citing that a member of his family has tested positive for Covid. Following No 10's press release, people are pointing out that he doesn't need to self isolate bearing in mind the circumstances outlined by them, unless he's not fully vaccinated. Once again, the man is failing to follow his own Covid rules/regulations.

This in the Independent today. Really can't make this st up! It's like spitting image
"Boris Johnson is defying calls to resign following a bruising PMQs performance yesterday where he apologised for attending drinks in the gardens of Downing Street during lockdown. The defiant prime minister decided to fight for his position on Wednesday afternoon and mobilised the cabinet to his defence, with ministers posting messages of support on social media. One such cabinet minister is Jacob Rees-Mogg who responded to questions on party-gate in the Commons on Thursday. He told MPs that the Covid public inquiry must consider whether lockdown rules, including restrictions on funerals were “too hard”. The attempted fight-back comes as Labour leads in the polls by a yawning ten-point gap - the biggest Labour lead over the Tory party in almost a decade." |

The polls at this time mean nothing when it comes to voting no one will vote for the likes of Rayner and her ilk. It’s a shame we need a creditable opposition. It’s time someone stood up and represented what the people of this country want fairness real equality and honesty. We are miles away from all three with any of our political parties at the moment.

It's not the polls I was looking at ... it was Rees-Mogg's comment. What a plonker!

Unfortunately Jacob Rees Mogge doesn’t live in this world, he lives in a parallel universe, he doesn’t know what’s going on in his own party (pardon the pun) let alone what’s going on outside of Westminster. He sums up all that is wrong with politics in the UK.
He was always going to support Boris (his paymaster) and all of Boris’s cabinet are doing the same for the same reasons. However, should backbenchers force a vote of no confidence and a challenge to Boris’s Premiership, I guarantee that some of these will break ranks and stab him in the back in order to promote their own prospects of becoming the next Tory leader/prime minister.

Keep a very close eye on your political enemies. Keep an even closer eye on your political allies would be the advice I would give Boris. One of them will stab him in the back when the time is right. Candidates - Gove ( previous), Rabb ( delusions of grandeur) Truss ( new darling of the party). Young Rishi is, for me, the interesting one. Seems to play everything by the book and avoids controvesy which is a hell of an achievement in this cabinet.
