What areas of the laws of the game are covered under 'foul play' though? |

Last week, Connacht captain challenged this 'unwhistled' incident - stripping the ball illegally. Which is covered in section 14.5 of the laws. It was successful, and obviously seen as foul play, Connacht won a penalty and won the game as a result.
So is there a list of laws that are seen as 'foul play' , and a list of those that aren't? We know in at the side isn't. any more? Would be good to know. |

In SA the new focus is to get someone carded ... something Turnbull arguably did against the Dragons a couple of weeks ago to get the game back to 14 each...not sure that was the primary aim...
Some odd outcomes to say the least,..the best one I’ve seen to date is the Stormers getting 2 players red carded and still ending up with more players on the pitch at the end than the Bulls ( I might be wrong with the Bulls, might have been the Lions) who didn’t have anyone red carded. |

Another talking point on scrumv last night was the feeling that refs seemed to be letting more things go in the last 5 minutes of games as they were relying on Captains challenges picking things up. How odd if true.

That's insane. These laws are a mess. Apparently that one above was a whistled incident which is why it could be challenged
Still don't know which transgressions are foul play though. |

Anyone see the Munster v Blues game last night. Towards the end of the game the Munster captain was allowed to challenge Lloyd Wiliams' kicking the ball back into the ruck even though the ref missed it and the game had gone on a few phases. So in this instance the ref allowed a caotains challendge for an unwhistled decision. Bonkers.

Last night there were captains challenges for 2 technical offences, one of which decided the game. Yet Ken wasn't even allowed to have a review for his. The game is governed by idiots. |

The tmo was wrong ball had left and he kicked it back in, we all saw it👍, captain challenge good idea that has been over complicated. Just let captain challenge 1 call any time simple

The ball had definitely left the ruck, so it was a penalty as Lloyd kicked it back in . Blues fans making hell of a fuss, nothing said about the woeful officiating us Scarlets at to endure , on there two visits to the Parc this season . We were not great in either game, but the officiating in both games was criminal .

All I know is that I really don’t like the Captain’s Challenge. It’s adding on more stand and watch time to a game that is already policed by 3 on field officials plus a TMO. It’s all very negative to have players now contesting decisions as well. It’s going to encourage more of it as well. I would like it binned asap

The catain's challenge is not needed. It has spoiled the end of a couple of close games already.
As said earlier, there is a tmo to pick up on anything missed and a citing procedure (for what its worth) to punish any serious offences. Just don't see the benefits of it. A captain is always going to put in some sort of challenge at the end of close games and turn an exciting finish into a farce.
