Josh Phillips came on and looked to get stuck in. Decent sized player, could be in the Patchell mould of a bigger 10.

2. Caleb Salmon and Josh Phillips. Eddie James would have been there if he wasn’t in NZ likewise Archie Hughes if not injured but yes it’s a tad concerning.

I still wake up late at night and think of what might have been when tim stimpson hit that jammy penalty1

Is salmon a lock or a back rower? Don’t see him displacing these 2 locks? James looks a future test player

he won’t be better than these two locks, we should be all out to get these two for the future especially jenkins, real potential there. A big 6 and a tail of line out option be handy for us

Really need a big 6 coming through for us, with Shingler and Blade both the wrong side of 30.

Caleb is highly unlikely to be a better lineout option than Shingler, - few players are. In the little I saw of him in last season's friendly against Nottingham he seemed to like carrying and has a good range of off-loads and passes, linking up well with team-mates and seeming to enjoy the physical side of the game.

Shingler is 34 and is close to the end of his career. It’s worth remembering when it comes to the lineout that the Scarlets do have Vaea Fifita. The All Blacks considered him one of the best lineout operators in the world full stop. So there’s less of a reliance on Shingler now

if he can avoid injuries I can see Shings being around for a couple of years. He is pretty fit and lean but we shall see

I don't know how the groups were selected but Wales really did get lucky. Wales are in a group alongside Italy, Scotland & Georgia. The other group features England, France, Ireland & South Africa!!!!! I do not know the format for the play offs - could someone enlighten.

After their very good form in the 6N, those pools do give the hosts a decent chance of making the semis, if it’s 1 v 2 and 2 v 1 etc.

Wales were down at half time conceding 3 rolling maul tries. It appears that Josh Phillips played an important part in the 2nd half making his kicks count. Also young Jenkins stole two attacking lineouts near the end of play. Tough final pool game against Italy awaits.
