Agree with you RR - what happens if Faletau goes down??? No Moriarty or Navidi. Who covers 15 - surely he isn't thinking of Priestland. Hawkins good prospect but he doesn't start at 12 for Ospreys in big games. Wainwright hardly featured this season as pointed out by Steff. Has the look of a little bit of experimentation about this squad which is understandable apart from the fact that Pivac said after the Italian fiasco last 6 nations that every team he selected from now on until France 2023 would be his strongest available team.

Looks like the end of the road for Foxy which will take some accepting when he sees that Hawkins in deemed ahead of him. I would advise our resident bookie's mate Ladram to seek out the odds on Foxy departing pre World Cup to the land of rising sun.
Feeling sorry for Regan but encouraging me to go to the bookiesWink

Sorry mate but some people are just beyond help.LOL

Pivac suggesting that Josh can play anywhere across the back row.

ETA: Also saying Hawkins can play 10 as well as centre.

Beard, Rowlands
Tshinuza, Faletau, Reffell
T.WIlliams, Anscombe
Tompkins, North

Although the AI's squad always has an experimental edge to it, it's sending a clear message to JMac, Foxy, Cawdor, Moriarty, Jarrod Evs, Halaholo, Thomas Young, Roberts (the Drags hooker--bet he's chuffed he left Ulster).
Feel a bit for Conbeer and Giles, not so much that they haven't been called up, but that Dyer has.

Rhodri Jones before Carre isn't a rugby decision is it?

Apparently it is Wil. Carre was given conditioning targets on return from South Africa and has fallen short according to Pivac at the press conference going on at the moment. For me another example of Pivac giving all and sundry too much information about players - by all means give the players feedback personally but done tell the World and his wife.
Tbh Carre doesn’t look very conditioned but he has improved . However if he’s not made agreed targets he is a foolish young man although I have never seen him with his top off 😱 🤨

Gym fit versus match fit in my view. Carre is in the form of his life for Cardiff.
Tomos Francis must have breezed through by comparison.

Carre is playing the best I’ve seen him. Rhodri Jones has to be a Dragons pick.

Chuffed for Dane, Sam, and Josh.

There might be opportunity later in the series for those just outside the squad , especially the way a lot of our forwards go down at the first thought of contact

As ever, a first choice 15 that looks good on paper. But the XV that start the campaign are barely the 15 that finish the campaign.

I like the idea of Blacker and Costellow coming off the bench

Pretty brutal selection for us. Not that we have lost tonnes of players, but at 2,9 and 10 we have lost multiple players.

Pivac coming up with the same old lines explaining why Sheedy not selected - has to go back on Tuesdays blah blah blah. Just tell the truth FFS - you ain't good enough. Will his argument hold any water when he selects Tompkins, Reffell & LRZ.

Before any of the Welsh players who play in England make any future contractual decisions think long & hard to what has happened to WGJ, Bradley Roberts & Thomas Young in recent times.

Hang on GPR, earlier on in this thread you moaned about Pivac being too open with the media LOL

Anyway to add further fuel to your fire about Pivac being too open:

Originally posted by BBC Sport BBC Sport wrote:

Head coach Wayne Pivac has cast doubt on whether Dragons captain Will Rowlands will lead Wales this autumn instead of the injured Dan Biggar.

Pivac chose not to name a skipper when announcing his 35-man squad for the four-match series.

When asked whether Rowlands could be a captaincy contender, Pivac replied: "Well, not really.

"Will is one that is doing a job for his club and at the moment is playing really good rugby."

Pivac added: "We just want him to focus on playing.

"We've got natural leaders in the team outside of those with a C next to their name.

"That role is there for a number of senior players."

Yes Fscarlet LOL. By all means be brutally honest with the player but in private fro goodness sake. His new favourite quote is "we know how good XYZ is" which in Pivac's vocabulary means "you used to be up to it but you're not now". All coaches are eventually judged by their results and the biggest factor affecting those results is selection. Pivac's selection criteria appears to change for every tournament/tour. He openly admitted getting selection wrong against Italy; committed to selecting his best team for games from then until the World Cup. Now we have some selections with 2027 in mind apparently?????

The lack of consistency from Pivac has been ever present since he took over & will ultimately, in my opinion, lead to failure & him not making it beyond France 2023.
