Fast forward a few years and her inner Kenneth Clark has surfaced during her meteoric rise. A pale imitation.

Got to have an attacking full-back,though.Be interesting to see if/when Adams gets tried there.

Yeah nice, has always been this tension with Biggar. Legitimately one of the best of his generation yet always a sense that he’s put a limit on what Wales can do in attack. I also don’t consider it a bad thing that we get these 4 games to try out Anscombe and Priestland, hopefully Costellow. Let’s hope Anscombe doesn’t have his pocket picked in the opening 2 minutes this year

Can’t access it as I don’t subscribe to the Torygraph. Surprised that Dic Penderyn was able to access it!

Good article 👍🏼 This is Anscombe’s chance to reclaim the 10 jersey as his own. Let’s hope he has a stormer this afternoon!

I have to agree with Dic regarding the 15. Injuries have taken a serious toll on Halfpenny's sharpness over many years. The dancing winger who burst onto the scene with Cardiff all those years ago is no more. Positionally still wonderful, brave as they come, world class goalkicker. However modern day rugby is usually won by the teams who score tries and 15 is the best position on the field to get your hands on the ball with that very precious commodity - time. Pace, an eye for an opening & an adventurous mindset are key. Have a look at what South Africa are trying this weekend with Kolbe wearing the 15 shirt. Full back resources in Wales are pretty bare & have been for many years. Liam will follow Halfpenny soon & then we are scratching our heads. Pivac will try to nurse this squad through to France 23 but he should already have looked at Adams & LRZ at 15. Of the next generation the only one who excites me is Tom Rogers.

No Llanelli/Scarlet side has ever won anything without a fast full-back. We haven't won anything since Halfpenny turned up.His fabled defensive qualities haven't done much to stop us getting embarrassed pretty often either. Halfpenny fits more into the Paul Thorburn,Bret Davey,Arwel with the ginger hair who played for Pooler school of full-backs.Dusty Hare,Jon Webb even.Completely alien to our tradition. Didn't you notice?

You can subscribe without paying, and get the odd free article. Sorry to disappoint, but I 've always enjoyed challenges to my ideology, and appreciate good writing whatever the politics. How's the Beano these days?

Halfpenny is preferred to both at the Parc. How many starts has Rogers had at full-back?I think he's the best option, but can understand why he's not picked for Wales. Slowed down a bit??Man can barely break intoa stroll ffs. What's so brilliant abouft his defence? Can't tackle without getting sparked As for his kicking,I'm sick of the commentator saying "Well that was an uncharacteristic miss",or "just wide, you don't see that too often"every time he plays. I head Gorseinon are playing a 61 yr old at scrum half-I thought,Christ I hope that doesn't catch on we'll never see the back of Mr.Instagram.... Frankly the sooner he calls it a day the better-he's just blocking the path for someone else, and his continued selection for Wales is embarrassing.

Score predictions? Hoping for a win, but realistically 12-24 to NZ.
