Good signing but even without Samson, Scarlets have three fit tightheads. Do you think the WRU are helping to fund this as he is not getting any game time for Saracens?

I was thinking this. Is there still a ban on the regions signing players? Maybe the reason of it being 6 months as the ban is for next season? I don’t know I’m just guessing.

Really smart business from the Scarlets, Him and O’Connor could be the welsh tight heads for the next decade.
Samson is finished, Javan is going to Edinburgh and WGJ hasn’t performed and had injury after injury. If he goes well hopefully we can sign him permanently. Give credit where credit is due Well done Peel and Co

No, I think that will be great competion between our thightheads but they have different ambition, Sam surely wants to impress Saracens star for next year and ours want to be in the starting xv, also we have young prospects in a the most difficoult role of our game...

I see with interest that as he's now signed for a welsh side, he can take part in the 4th international with Wales too.  Has to have been some assistance from the WRU helping get this one done, about time they did something for us lol

I'm inclined to agree... poor old Samson has had no luck with injuries for a while now, and WillGriff has underperformed compared to what we were expecting... I didn't know that Javan was leaving - pity, local boy done good after working really hard over the years to consistently improve his standards.

The ban has exceptions for "cost neutral" signings.
So, we could sign Lee Blackett as we hadn't replaced Dai Flanagan.

Maybe we have squad budget from a player injured on Wales duty and we can use that "credit" on Wainwright?
We're still still here, but I wish we were in an Anglo-Welsh

Yes it is when you look at the other regions and the signings they have made with WRU help we lag way behind

Not 100% behind this move.
Harri has been performing excellently this season and bringing Sam in will impact on his game time and development.

Regardless, welcome to the Scarlets and I look forward to seeing what you can do for the shirt.
As long as you win it once, you'll never be forgotten

No, they are gone.
Apart from North and AWJ, who are fully central contracts I believe
We're still still here, but I wish we were in an Anglo-Welsh

Yes, I believe the WRU pay 80% of the salary of the top 38 Welsh squad players.

I agree. SCARLETFAN32, has summed it up well.
However, would like to add that WHY , also makes a good point, about how many top Welsh players seem to have arrived at any region OTHER THAN SCARLETS, in the last few years.
DRAGONS. Moriarty, Rowlands.
CARDIFF. Adams, Priestland, Falateau, Young.
OSPREYS> North , Cuthbert, Anscombe, Francis.

In the Crys 16 meeting, Jon Daniels did mention, that we were on the lookout for a tight head and second row. Whether a signing until the end of the season (so far) has ended our quest ..who knows?
It such a demanding and attritional position, you cannot have too many options TBH.
With ken in the Twighlight of his career, Samson finished, Wyn Jones perpetually injured and Rob Evans gone, we need to build.
Hopefully something will materialise regarding second row!
