Irish getting a bit of a tonking 1st half in Paris

22 - 0

In 1972, Roy Bergiers scored that try and said "that was for you lofty"

"All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us"

Scoreline flatttered Ireland. France took 20 mins off in the second half

Ireland luck that the French switched off really. Ireland back line looks like they borrowed the Welsh attack book.

The French were scary when in full flight. Can only see England really stopping that.

France play rugby the way it was meant to be played. Ireland are paying the price for lack of forward planning in getting players through the system. Could have been 50+ if France really wanted it. England in Parias final game will decide this championship. Guillard is some player - he is relentless.

As GPR has been saying for a while, Ireland have begun their decline.

Such was the gap between the teams in the first half, that lowering of quality was a bit more like a Winter Olympics event, the downhill. However, we aren’t big enough to compete, yet. Doris might be a good player, however, why does he have to whinge and moan at refs so much?! The Irish scrum stood up better than expected given their injury list.

Ryan was very lucky to escape a card with his 2 cheap shots. He was always going to be tackling Jalibert late. As Benjamin Kayser said « He was committed to that tackle 15 minutes ago ». Why does it when the game is lost - there’s only downside from red mist.

As Pimp said, although maybe not totally, the 6N is certainly more than a bit predictable currently. We wouldn’t mind so much if we were up at the business end and had a governing body that encouraged the sport at the pro end of things.

Some of France’s play last night was rugby of the gods. Definitely a beautiful game. More please.

Not sure if this has been mentioned previously but most of our six nations rivals have an A or second string team, could our lack of an A team or second 15 be the reason we are struggling. An A team could be the springboard our under 20s need to step up when they finish age grade as many of them seem to disappear then.Finance is probably the reason it won't happen but an A team I think should be discussed going forward.

I think the Irish scouts will be going into overdrive.

I dunno, France just do these crazy things that can’t possibly work - like attacking space, kicking to space, and passing to each other without dropping the ball. It’ll never catch on.

Tbf when you have that French pack to play off, and their conveyor belt of fresh talent, it’s criminal they haven’t dominated rugby for years.

Well deserved victory though, helped by the ref not being in Ireland’s pocket, I’m already hiding behind the sofa for when wales have to play them!

Ryan is a jerk.

France were superior everywhere.

Sad not

France were great, they reminded me of the way Wales have been playing under Sherratt and Tandy…. Total rugby!

Sorry, I just woke up!

France were superb in their ability to offload in small spaces and to think on their feet... and when you have pace and skill on the wings, you can expect to finish off any chances that come your way.

For Wales to keep the score down (I'm really not expecting a win) we will need to not take any dummies or double-pumps (Ireland were susceptible last night) and just smash the ball carrier - though not late. (Ryan was suspect - borderline - not sure if the Jalibert tackle was late, but it was brutal for sure.).Whenever possible, we need to have man and ball tackles, too.

One thing that will help - maybe - is the pace of LRZ at 15 - France benefited a lot from chips ahead last night, with Ireland's back 3 too slow to react.

As for Ireland - those of us who have been watching the URC these last years are aware that their current crop is not up to the predecessors - no 10 to replace O'Gara or Sexton; no O'Connell in the second row... and some former stars on the downward slope (apparently). They'll need to rebuild with younger players, but it takes time for smaller nations.

Agree Ringrose way off the pace for a 13,  I bet
Odiscoll commentating on that game was
In shock he is half the size of ringrose but would
Have made of mockery of him
