Three of us (Rich and the two Phil's) joined you all in the Celtic bar sessions on both the Friday and Sat and thoroughly enjoyed your company. The bus through the city to the game certainly memorable!!

Following Gareth’s example I have some awards to issue.

First award - classic line. (Are you allowed an award to self?).

So, we are being tipped off by Gareth of some of the sites to see in Treviso.

He mentions the fish market which is on an island. I am excitedly envisaging a river trip and ask “How do you get there? By boat?” Gareth looks at me, blinks, and says “There’s a bridge”.

You could paddle to the island!

Second Award- Sleeper of the Tour.

One of our number, who shall be name-less, at last knockings headed back earlier than a room-mate, wielding the only key. The room-mate arrived at the locked door unable to wake Sleeping Beauty and spent most of the night on a couch in the corridor. Gareth eventually let Hefin in before breakfast. Oops

Third Award- Song of the Tour

On the journey to the ground for the match, the bus service with Scarlets supporters packed like sardines, wandered through the clean streets of Treviso. Astonished members of the public stopped in their tracks to look at the bus, wondering what Sospan Fach, Yma o Hyd, Hymns and Arias etc were about.

There were two contenders for the Song award, neither of which I had heard before:

First, familiar to most residents of Llanelli, to the tune of “Take me home Country Road”

“Take me home, Station Road,

To the pub where I belong,

Open til three, The Apple Tree,

Take me home, Station Road”

Secondly to the tune of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Wimoweh)”

“A win away, a win away (x5)

We’re the Scarlets, the mighty Scarlets,

We never win away,

We’re the Scarlets, the mighty Scarlets,

We never win a-way.

“A win away, a win away (x5)”

Etc, etc.

And the winner is …………“We’re the Scarlets, the mighty Scarlets”

Fourth Award- Sight of the Tour

A difficult one, as in the Old Town centre, every turning seemed to emerge in a fine square lined with Restaurants, Trattorias or Osterias, or a bridge across a canal.

The Cathedral was a strong candidate, but Fontana Delle Tette originally built in 1559 must take the prize. The original statue was on display near one of the Municipal buildings with body parts of the statue removed similar to Venus de Milo, but a restored copy in working order was a cultural sight to see.

The Fifth Award - Star of the tour

This must go to Cliff Williams, in total agreement with Gareth.

Cliff has indeed a very interesting life story as the senior member of the tour, and is quiet about it, but will relate aspects of it when pressed. In addition to this he is a man of many talents and is also involved in Welsh tutoring and has offered me help with my faltering Welsh learning.

The Final Award- Outstanding Contribution to Scarlet Fever Tours

One Person- Gareth Roberts!

Leigh you will be hearing from my solicitor!!!!! Fantastic summary of the trip. One addition - when advised that he could have asked the concierge to either ring the room or provide another key Hef looked rather blank. A cracker.
