I can see why people like it, i'm just surprised people well into their music on this forum buy into it, i'd expect people who don't actually buy music or are casual listeners to be into it as it's easy and saves actually buying music.  Can I ask what is the appeal to big music fans like yourself instead of an ipod orn whatever? I'd genuinely like to know as I assume it's an age thing, as i've got an Ipod but I still don't use it even though i've got hundreds of albums on it!

I'm currently using it as I have 6 month free with my t'internet but I can't see me renewing after that.

I copy any music I want to hear to my phone, and on the 3 occasions where I've actually needed to show someone something on there, my signal is too crap to stream from it properly!

That tenner a month will definitely continue going on vinyl over Spotify

It's practically the same as having an iPod. But you don't have to rip all the CD files yourself. Or buy them from iTunes. Plus, the files are about a quarter of the size of an mp3 file.

I still buy the occasional album. Ones that I feel I simply must own. But spotify has changed the way I listen to music. The user interface and manipulation of tracks is so easy.

For example, the other day, I was in work, and young M1nd3d asked me if I'd listened to the new Islet album. I hadn't. But I added it wirelessly to my phone in 30 seconds and went out the door. I listened to the album on my way home.

Why not? I think maybe it's because I listen to so much music on the go? And in so many different places? Upstairs, laptop, on the tv, phone etc.

The only reservation I have is that artists don't get paid enough through royalties. Hopefully it will increase.

I can see the appeal in sussing out new stuff etc, but I rarely listen outside of my house/car or the occasional hour in Uni so I suppose it's not worth it for me. I know you can keep a playlist on Spotify, can you burn anything off or rip them to a pc? A tenner a month to "own" music but not be able to rip it or burn it seems a waste of time to me, that's just my preference though as I like my ongoing battle with the wife to stop her noticing my album collection building every week;)
I admit I could just look at the site and suss it, but isn't there a time limit or limit to the number of times you can listen to an album?

Why do you need to rip or burn it? It's there, all the time - on your stereo, tv, phone, laptop etc.

Unless you want to carry a CD case with you to the pub it's a no brainer.

If you pay £10 it is absolutely unlimited play.

I don't have any interest in having it on my phone/tv or laptop, and certainly have no interest in listening to it in the pub, I like a physical "thing" even it's a burn off:) I won't bother looking at the site again as I prefer my way of enjoying sounds, another example of progress being of no interest to me until I actually manage to find a use for my ipod!

Fair enough. Intellectual property is important.

I can't see why you would NOT want your entire music collection (and any other song you want to discover) available at all times though.

Why stream it?

Because if I'm thinking of something at that moment, I won't have downloaded it to my phone already.

Plus my entire music collection is already on my ipod, I don't see the point in paying for a service monthly to provide me with something I already have (or can obtain easily if needs be). Would rather put the money toward some vinyl.

Adding to the above point, having a seperate mp3 player means it doesn't run my phone battery down using it too!

I just download everything via spotify. So unless I haven't heard of it, the chances are I've got it. I had about 2500 mp3 tracks on my sd card. I can have about 6500 with spotify.

The only thing I wouldn't have is a song somebody is recommnending me. But I wouldn't have that on an iPod anyway. At least with spotify you can have the chance to get the track in a second or 2.

Genius invention.

My current thing can get about 200 albums on it, which to be honest is far more than I need for the time i'm actually out of the house anyway, and if I wanted my whole collection on there i'd need at least 5 of the things! I'm happy enough dipping into Youtube for new sounds.
It obviously works for you mate, i'm not knocking it as I know you're well into your sounds, it's just i'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to my albums and prob old fashioned as I like to be surrounded by my material possessions in the man-den:)

Which all have spotify on.

But you don't need spotify for that. You have the internet.
