Back in 2019/2020 season, when Brad M was our coach, my dear friend Cliff, whom has sat next to me in the North stand for well over a decade had a lovely surprise on Boxing day. . We were playing the Ospreys, and it was Clff's 80th birthday. Not only did we thrash the Ospreys by 40 pts( who can ever forget Aaron Shingler's try) but Cliff 's grandson had organised a special birthday celebration for Cliff..a presentation of a signed Scarlets shirt in the tunnel , after the game with JAKE BALL. WAW..what a day, what a win what a surpise. Jake was absoloute wonderful
. Today, as was about enter Morrisons ! Llanelli, for a spot of shopping, who, should I meet, face-to-face, but JAKE BALL. In a blink of an eye we were chatting. I told him HOW MUCH HE HAD BEEN MISSED. Scarlets and Wales had missed his Physical presence . Jake not said he remembered the presentation to Cliff, but how much he had missed the Scarlets fans., and that was one factor in him coming back . He also said he was doing some work with the younger players and mentioned Will Evans and someone of potential , who been unlucky with injury. So good to hear that and what a great mentor Will has. Finally before we parted company, I left Jake, with a few words, hopefully echoing thoughts of fellow Scarlets fans. 'Great to have you back " I told him., "Your pride, commitment and skill are superseded by one thing ..your a Scarlet at heart, always will be, and we think the world of you. We had a big hug., and then he was gone.!! I had to compose myself going in to Morrisons, where my wifexahd friend were patiently waiting. It made my day, my week. ![]() |

Jake is a lovely guy often have a chat on Sunday morning as his son plays in the same tag rugby team as my grandson. His boy is a unit as well but has good feet and skills for a 7/ 8 year old. Was only teasing him last week he must have his size from him and his skills from his mum.
