Following on from the discussion we had at the last meeting (Halfway). I now have serious reservations as to whether we should hold our Open Meeting before the end of this season.

I understand the need and desire to 'get things moving' as soon as possible, but due to the way things have turned out over the last three weeks in particular, I feel that to launch the Trust now could well be not far short of disastrous.

We would either face apathy from a lot of disgruntled fans, or, possibly worse, be seen as a possible vehicle for outright opposition to the mangement/coaching structure.

Therefore, far better IMO to plan well in the close season, and cash in on the inevitable bonhomie, and optimism of a new season with the return of Steve etc. as a catalyst.

I may well be wrong here, and the opposite could happen, and genuine fans could 'rally to the flag' in what some would percieve as a time of crisis.

Please Discuss.

Due to events that have forced me to divert my attention to other matters I haven't really been involved with you guys since the inagrual meeting of the group at Mike's flat, so I don't expect to have much of a say in matters. But for what it's worth I agree with Rover above, and believe that an open meeing now could not have the desired outcome. During watching the second half last night I looked around and could only see disgust and dismay in fellow supporters' faces. I thoght to myslef at the time that turning that into a positive momentum for a ST would be impossible.

An open meeting between now and the end of the season could turn into a slanging match and be seen as an invite to voice opinions on why things are going wrong on the field (and off it for that matter). We don't want people turning up thinking they can have a moan about outside halves, away form, fitness levels and the travel arrangements to Twickenham!

There's bound to be optimism (even if it's blind optimism!) next August at the thought of having Dwayne and Steve back at half back and hopefully a few more quality signings. We may even have a new coach by then. This could be seen by many as a 'new start' at Stradey and an ideal time to start something new and inovative like a ST.

That's my contribution to the discussion....

All things considered, I agree.

We can still do some planning over the summer despite the Open Meeting being launched to coincide with the season start.

Things should take shape a bit more after the meeting with Big Stu.

Ordinarily, being someone who likes to keep the momentum going, I'd be all for our Open Meeting being held a.s.a.p. but, under the circumstances of the last fortnight's events, have to agree that prudence may be the best tactic at the moment. The Apaches are girding their loins and, if we lose on Saturday, will move in for the kill. Today,  I suspect that Scarlets management are "feeling the pressure" big time. ( stating the obvious there, I know). In view of H.E.'s response though, it would be a good time to meet with them. I'm missing Saturday's game as I'm out of the country but the hotel I'm in on Sunday has internet access. If the attack comes, I'll read all the gory details. Keep the faith.

You're right Barrie, I can smell the war paint from here. Our geographic spead, jobs, lives mean that we have different challenges facing us as than the 'city team' trusts, so am happy to have the summer to fine tune our preperations.

Met PhilBB last night, he was a few rows behind me, East upper, and he wishes us all the best.

Lousy night last night, but their stadium was tidy, if a little too much concrete in certain places.

Exactly Mike, It should also give us time to make the arrangements as watertight as possible. I didn't mean in any way that our efforts should not continue, or even slow down in any way, simply that the response we could expect is far more likely to be positive at the start of a new season.

There could also be some major upheaval at Stradey in the summer if the management team goes to Wales. It would be pointless to work hard to get GJ on side through SG if he's replaced.
