Super 10 Premiership membership criteria revealed

LLANDOVERY RFC's members will next week vote on whether the club can take the next step towards what they hope will be a place in the new Super Ten Premiership.

An Extraordinary General Meeting has been called on Tuesday, July 12 (7.30pm), at the Church Bank clubhouse when the members will be asked to vote for or against 'incorporation status'.

The WRU has written to all current Principality Premiership clubs to stress that membership of the new 'Super Ten' in 2012-13 will, among other criteria, be dependent on the club becoming a limited company.

In a letter of May 13, the union outlined their Premier Division review and reform to the clubs and what is needed for them to qualify for a position in the new ten-team Premiership that will begin in September 2012.

All clubs wishing to apply for the new Premiership must satisfy four criteria and Llandovery are up to this time able to satisfy three of these.

Firstly, they have been awarded a mandatory A licence for their facilities at Church Bank, secondly they have signed a participation agreement with the WRU and thirdly their playing record over the past six years puts them into the top ten performing clubs in the Premiership over that space of time.
On Tuesday, Llandovery members will be asked to vote on whether the club becomes a limited company — without which there will be no entry into the new Premiership.
