George North's try??

Touched down the ball while almost complete in the dead ball area, surely it should have been a 22 drop out for O's??

Correct

LAW

22.4 OTHER WAYS TO SCORE A TRY

(g) Player in touch or touch-in-goal. If an attacking player is in touch or in touch-in-goal, the player can score a try by grounding the ball in the opponents’ in-goal provided the player is not carrying the ball.

Been There, done that, got the t-shirt... and had to explain to the ref why it was a try too...

But he was not in touch, or touch in goal, he was beyond the dead ball line, with one foot in the Loughor Estuary?

He must have very long legs to stretch around the world to dip into the Loughor. He was at the town end.

It's not always about where you end up, it's about how you get there.

What I am saying is that the law refers to in touch and touch in goal but not beyond the dead ball line which IMO does not constitute "touch"

You can also legally fly hack the ball, if the ball is in field and you have 1 standing foot in touch.

Although it's a good point - what is defined as "touch in goal" area?

You can also minor the ball from beyond the dead ball line by simply tapping it, but if you pick it up then that makes the ball dead - if it was moving when you picked it up, you're not responsible for making it dead.
