Rwy'i wedi danfon hwn fel e-bost i Gareth Davies heddiw, dan y teitl "Signage at the New Stadium". Mae croeso i unrhyw un sydd am ei ddefnyddio, a'i ddanfon hefyd, i unrhyw un o'ch dewis chi ar y bwrdd (sydd ddim yn wág o siaradwyr Cymraeg), i'w gopio. Gore pa fwya o e-bostiau fyddan nhw'n derbyn ar y mater ddwedwn i.
Sir,
I am deeply saddened, and ashamed, to learn from the photos on the Scarlets web-site, that NO regard to the proper status of the Welsh language has been shown at the new stadium. Here was a glorious opportunity to start with a blank canvas, to show the rest of the rugby-playing world, the importance that the Welsh language has traditionally held for Scarlets supporters, and the region.
I understand that assurances have been given to various people, who have shown concern for the increasing disregard for the language in Scarlets affairs, and the disrespect to its correctness, in the past, that all efforts would be made to promote bilingualism in the new stadium.
I also believe that you have had offers from supporters like myself, of advice and practical help in this direction, and I can only reiterate such an offer, that personally, I would be only too happy to be contacted.
Can you assure me, and countless other supporters, who share the same concerns, that the situation can be corrected before the stadium opens its doors, and the region who has traditionally shown the greatest regard for its native language, is not shown to the world to now be the one that regards it least?

Newydd ddanfon e-bost at Gareth Davies.
Dear Gareth, I'm shocked and saddened to see some of the new signage at Parc Y Scarlets on the new photos on the official website. I understand that the Welsh Language issue was raised in a board meeting not so long ago and that the club would be putting in place a policy that would promote bilingualism and give the Welsh Language a place at Parc Y Scarlets. In my opinion, if this issue is not rectified and all signs at Parc Y Scarlets are not replaced with bilingual versions, then the club / region have let the supporters down once again. I have offered my help with regard to translation, keeping the Welsh side of the website up to date and providing Welsh articles for program's in the past free of charge, as have others, no doubt. As I'm on the subject, the Welsh side of the website is bare. The last news on there is WIN A SURFING DAY WITH THE SCARLETS. There are no pic's of the new stadium there either. I thought this region took pride in its Welshness, not what I'm seeing at the moment. Diolch, ... Edited by Alun - 27 October 2008 at 6:43pm |

Newyd ddal i fyny gyda'r pwnc yma - sal IAWN yw'r arwyddion ym Mharc y Scarlets. Gobeithio eu bod nhw ond yn rhai dros dro (er, yn anffodus, dydn't ddim yn edrych felly i mi) a bydd rhai ddwy-ieithog yn cael eu rhoi yn ei lle cyn y gem yn erbyn Munster.
Bydd yn ddiddorol gweld beth yw'r ateb gan gareth Davies ynglyn a'r ddefnydd o'r iaith Gymraeg. Mae'r ffaith bod mwy nag un ohonym ni yma wedi cynnig gwneud y 'gwaith caled' i nhw ar y wefan a.y.y.b a neb o'r Scarlets wedi gwnued ymdrech i wneud rhywbeth amdano (neu hyd yn oed diolch) braidd yn sal hefyd.

Please rest assured that you have jumped to the wrong conclusion. Much of the signage you see is temporary to comply with legal requirements until translation work is completed. Gareth

Y peth arall sy'n fy mhoeni yw - os mai mesur dros dro yw'r unieithrwydd, a yw'r arwyddion sydd wedi eu gosod yn barod yn mynd i aros, gyda rhai yn y Gymraeg yn cael eu gosod wrth ymyl/uwchben/o dan? Fel rhywun a chefndir mewn pensaerniaeth, mae'n fy mhoeni y bydd posibilrwydd na fydd cysondeb mewn arddull, rhwng y rhai o'r ddwy iaith. Ie, mi fyddai wedi bod yn rhatach o lawer - ac yn fwy pwrpasol - i gael arwyddion dwyiethog yn hytrach na dwy set o arwyddion (h.y. Cymraeg a Saesneg).
Serch hynny, braf gweld - ar safwe'r Sgarlets - bod y clwb wedi gwrando ac wedi newid sospan i sosban !
