Lauaki & Howlett to face Aussies
New Zealand have made two changes to their team for Saturday's Tri-Nations clash against Australia in Auckland. Waikato flanker Sione Lauaki replaces the suspended Jerry Collins at blindside, while Auckland winger Doug Howlett comes in for Rico Gear.
The All Blacks need to beat Australia to regain the Tri-Nations otherwise South Africa will be champions. Without a win in their three matches to date, Australia are already out of the Tri-Nations running.
"We thought the fresh player would be a good option this week," said All Blacks coach Graham Henry. "Doug has played some outstanding rugby for Auckland recently, while Rico has played virtually every Super 12 and Test match since mid-February."
New Zealand: Mils Muliaina; Doug Howlett, Tana Umaga (captain), Aaron Mauger, Joe Rokocoko; Leon MacDonald, Piri Weepu; Rodney So'oialo, Richie McCaw, Sione Lauaki, Ali Williams, Chris Jack; Carl Hayman, Keven Mealamu, Tony Woodbilly.
Reserves: Derren Witcombe, Greg Somerville, James Ryan, Marty Holah, Kevin Senio, Luke McAlister, Conrad Smith
