I did'nt go and watch yesterday, and probably,  just as well, as Yorks batted all day on a docile pitch and feeble Glam attack.

When I reviewed the bbc sports online page, some  gloating Yorkies, putting the knife in claiming Glam s" stuffed with saffers".??
Ingram, yes, but Byrom(Zimbabwean), has lived in UK a long time , and , now has British  passports  and english qualified same for chris cooke , who has been here even p9ngercabd views Wales as home.
I reminded  our Enlisg friends that our cricketing infrastructure  is small in Wales compared to aYorks, and that includes finance.
Production of home  grown  talent is definitely difficult.

The arrogant  English County tainted by racicm and points deduction , should think first  before aiming brickbats at others

Sadly insular mind sets persist everywhere and social media often brings out the worst of people as they sit in their keyboard warrior lounges across the country! As you say Yorkshire has a lot to apologise for. I found the racism really shocking and very surprising as there are so many generations of Pakistani and Indian heritage people living there and who are all fans and potential players! Talk about peeing on your own chips!

That is the sort of thinking which led to Norman Tebbit's notorious 'cricket test' idea. A good number of Asian-heritage cricketers have represented England with distinction over the years, including most recently Moeen Ali.

none have played for glammy though? Why is that?  The local cricket lges have lots of asian plAyers none seen to kick on for glammy at senior county level though . Yorkshire may have a lot of asians living there but they seem to be in set areas of the towns and cities there with not much mixing between the communities and seemingly a lot of hostility

Thanks to Aberfan, Reesy and RR, all of whom regularly  contribute  to cricket threads on SF, which is great for our forum.
Of course  we also have GPR Rochester, wh played cricket to a high standard,  and is knowledgeable.

Going back to this thread,  I played cricketing the lower Welsh leagues,  years ago now. The standard  then was average,  but I reckon, it's got worse. At, one time,  west wales supplied half the Glam team  now we are lucky to have one..Harris(who is hopeless),as Salter from Pembs retired
Hence for Glam,  is the infrastructure and without that, you are on shaky ground.
Not sure on how they base their accademy, but compared to a county like Yorkshire,  with the number's playing  cricket  there, plus the financial clout of having Headingly, and subsequent income generation linked to Test Matches , Glam are at a disadvantage.

RR's point us valid, apart from Carlson ( who has had an excellent  season with bat),who is of mixed race, there  seems a lack of Welsh ethnic minority  cricketers, such a shame.I remember Tony Cordle,
a member of Glam championship winning side from the 60's / early 70's. He was a very capable  seam bowlers ahd useful late order  batsman.

Anyway, as I indicated above , for all our travailsat Glam,  we need no lectures from online Yorks fans.
That County were extremely  lucky they did not incur  a longer Test match ban, for the depth of endemic racism found to be prevalent there .Its a cancer that needs rooting out.
I am not one who does social media, other than scarletfever , and occasionally  BBC sport. Its incredible  what I read there from supposed sports fans.  Keyboard warriors,  without a brain,  I call them . The vitriol,  spitefullness, and total negativity,  are a shocking indictment  of the pathetic,  shallow society we have become.

Thanks RR.
Going back to when I was a boy, my grandfather,  who was a very decent seam bowler for Llanelli , sent my middle  stump cartwheeling backwards,  on day trips to Pendin.e sands, always commented on Yorks and particular  Lancs league   ahd how strong they were.
There are a lot of Yorks playing county cricket, which indicates their strength .
When I started watching cricket, they had a formidable  side, that included Boycott, Close and Illingworth( Truman was about finishing  then).
If they put out a full side now, their batting, with Bairstow,  Root and Brook,  is very strong.

Despite all their qualities,  they are an arrogant bunch.
Headingly,  is the least friendly  Test ground I have visited, with  officious  staff  , and their  supporters,  never short of an opinion.
To divert slightly,  when I have gone to watch swans, I have encountered,  the most vile fans I have ever seen,  and they belong  to Leeds utd!

Say the least. I watched lara score a brilliant 100 vs england at headingley once but no one was clapping him. You don’t have to like the opposition but you can respect them.  If it’s any consolation they hate everyone not just usWink. I was based up in cattetrick for a while they proably rubbed off on me it’s why im so chippy at timesWink

funnily enough they were the first team i thought of rugby equivalent wise. Yorkshire see then selves as being different from other county sides tbh they are i’d guess the nost succesful in terms of most capped players and most championships won? Strong yorksire usually equals a strong englAnd. But they don’t half let you know about it

I must admit I am acbig fan of Yorkshire  Tea..loose leaves if course.
It's probably  the best for its relative price I have found.
Generally  helps me "come too", in the morning.
We went  on a coach trip ( pre covid) to the north of England,  taking in Hadrians wall etc. We picked up and elderly couple in Newport, who were from Yorkshire, but moved down to be bear their daughter.
They were paired up with his for breakfast  and evening meal.
The lady was lovely, but the gentleman,  wouldn't  let you get a word in edgeways Confused
"Yorkshire  Tea.. Best in the world..Yorkshire  cricket,  best in the world , Yorkshire Moors ..best in UK!"
I suspect he was a Tory too, but blissfully,  we steered clear of that, because he spent so much time telling other things about Yorkshire.
Apparently ("according  to him), the best fish and chip in the world,is in Harrogate LOL
By the end of the week,  we needed another holiday ! LOL

Yorkshire miners and Welsh miners have always been pretty close bonded of course , due to the commonality of their tough work down the mines for generations ; sharing “ Pit “ Villages/towns and being part of a real community. Being married to a Yorkshire woman from a mining community for some 35 years or so has led me to plenty of friendly interactions over the years as the only Welshman in the “ up north “ family! But certainly they are all proud of their county and playing to stereotype many are often pretty blunt and non wafflers ( everything I’m not 😂) . They don’t have whippet’s though 😂

Lovely story Reesy.
Agree on the miner's  angle.
During the miners strike, I remember delivering boxes of donations from a host of people and organisations  in Pembrokeshire,  to the welfare hall in Pontyberem.
When I got there, the whole place was commanded by two large lovely ladies., who had just come back helping in Doncaster.
Similarly, we had received  wonderful support from Yorks.
When Nottinghamshire  went back , S.Wales and Yorkshire  stayed out, so there was mutal respect.

Anyway, back to the cricket,  so glad that Glam were able to hold out for a draw, so remain undefeated at home even if we haven't won many games .
Sadly , when perusing the bbc sport, online  responses  to the game,  I was horrified to find another alleged Yorkshire  fan guily if racist comments , this time regarding their Pakistani skipper.
It was'nt blatant  but you could see where he was coming from.
Some of the  Yorkies are a sad bunchl
