Wouldn't it be weird if the Scarlets were creating rumours of prospective signings then reading reactions on this forum before making a decision?

If so I could think of a few signings that wouldn't have been made.

To be fair Ian Evans' value has probably dropped due to the timing of Toulon cancelling his contract. So it may not be that much of a long shot.
I still wake up late at night and think of what might have been when tim stimpson hit that jammy penalty1

As a fan there's nothing that gets the juices going better than a big name signing. With no disrespect to any signings named or rumoured they dont come into that category.

Would love a surprise big name signing.

As for Ian Evans, if we're honest he'd start for us if he was a Scarlet. But he will go where the money is, no doubt about that and we've no urgent need to push the boat out, he'll go to England or France.
Agree with all this. Pivac is the only signing that has got me really excited and he's not even a player.

The guy is a endless joke. Dont want him at the Scarlets. Has no class or decorum.

He was good 8 or so years ago. How many games has he played since?

Since when does class apply to a rugby player they are there to do a job, if we had Ianto and Ball that would be some partnership. Ian Evans is excellent in the air which isn't Ball's strong point. Has a good skill set and can mix it with the best we would be silly to turn down the opportunity. Does he have a young family if so that could be a factor. The more strength in depth we have the more likely we are to progress to the quarters of competitions. It's good ambition from the club.

There just isn't any synergy in this at all for me...

-He would need to be our highest earner for sure.

-He would miss large swathes of the season with Team Wales (along with Jake) hence we get weaker not stronger.

Subjectively..

-He is not a world class operator and I for one was amazed that Toulon made a move for him, equally I wasn't surprised when they dropped that interest.

-I don't rate him higher than Jake or George, Joe maybe, but that makes him a bench player when everyone's fit.

-He has an injury and discipline record which would suggest more time on the sidelines.

-...and more than anything else, I can no more see him in Scarlet than I could Foxy in an O's shirt. Some guys are simply not destined to play for their biggest adversaries.
