The worlds greatest ever fast bowling wicket taker goes out at the top this week, at the home of cricket

22 years after his debut , he hangs up his cricket whites for the last time at the end of the
England v West indies clash at Lords

Rarely injured remarkably consistent.... 700 test wickets, 269 one day international wickets and about 1500+ career wicket
PhenomenalClap

Atkinson stole the limelight with 7, admittedly set against helpful conditions and some curious strokes by the Windies batsmen.

England building a big lead.

Always feel for the Windies when the British summer doesn't really materialise.

Anderson,  one if the best I have seen.
Saw him, playing Glam in Old Trafford,  not long after he had started.
To say he was impressive is an understatement.

This boy Jamie Smith has long been touted as the next big thing & he showed what he can do. His batting is excellent. Don't know a lot about his glove work so will reserve judgement.

It's funny as he is the back up keeper at his county but the person he's been picked in front of for this test....is the person in front of him at county level.

Yes there is no doubt in my mind that Foakes is the best keeper in England. However this young guy is his understudy & is by far a better batsman. If he can learn from the best then he may well become an England regular. He is already, in my mind, a better bet than Bairstow behind the sticks.

Strange first test. In front of packed crowds , England hammered the windies in only 2 and a bit days...The atmosphere was fantastic and it was a wonderful send off for the great Jimmy anderson. The resut was good for England with atkinson 10 wickets and several batsment getting 50+
But the windies were shocking. Their weak looking line up folding like a cheap deckchair twice and only seales looked effective with the ball.

Unlike the past, they dont have many players over here at the counties acclimatising to the conditions
Theyve also lost a few big test stars to the t20 world circus which is worrying too

The ICC need to get a firm grip on the t20 explosion. Whilst its making money and helping to fund the growth of the great game in many emerging nations. It is in danger of drowning test cricket. Which would be a sporting tragedy.  Whilst theres about 120 t20 nations theres only 12 test nations and only the top 7 are really competitive.

One things for sure its very unlikely any fast bowler will ever come close to Jimmy andersons rekarkable 704 test wicketsClap Im delighted hes staying on in a coaching mentor capacity for the rest of the summer and hopefully beyond

I notice too the england womens are hammering all before them in t20s in front of good crowds. But I cant recall their last test match? Do they play test cricket anymore or even 4 day cricket ?

Another excellent post from Roy.
100% on the money regarding 20/20.
We all know it attracts new fans and puts bums on seats, but my previous posts have been pleading for common sense and balance , both domestically and internationally.
Unless we are careful we will kill goose that lays the Golden egg...Test Cricket !

Jimmy, as Roy says , probably one of the best bowlers England have ever produced.
Definitely in the best side I have seen in 60 years of seriously watching cricket

The format for women’s tours seems to be a few T20 a few ODI and then a test or two (no more than three I think.

There’s so many points for each format Win Tie etc have more weight the longer the match goes on, I think.

I think I read somewhere the women only play 1 test every other year which is a 4 day ashes test.
I dont think there is much if any other female test cricket ? which is pretty sad
