JJames in my opinion is a very fortunate guy to be reffing at this level

Come on now Alun, the result aside, you can't tell me you thought James had a good game on Wednesday? One yellow card by Bassett was certain, I've no problem with that and infact I called it during the game. Just tell me what you thought of his performance?

Do you think Martyn Madden would marry me?

He had a good game, as far as I could see... His advisor thought he had a good game also.

So do refs and advisors no longer look at the scrum and are wheeling and crabbing across field no longer fouls? Also have we got rid of the law that states you can't come in the side, and that you have to stay on your feet at the breakdown and not flop on top of players? Well that's news to me!!!

Maybe his advisor had better get a copy of the video of the game from the Scarlets analyst and have a good look at it.

Those points Alun, you will find very hard to argue with.

That's fair enough. One thing I do want to add is that I hate critising referees because without them there would be no game and I do think that there too many 'confusing' rules. My biggest gripe about refs is what I call the big 'C' -consistency. We have different intepretations from different countries across the world, to different leagues(Welsh Prem,Magners, Anglo Welsh, HCup, Top 14, Guniness) and then to different hemispheres. That's crazy, rugby is hard enough to referee as it is without those factors to add in.

We need to get every ref singing from the same hymn sheet ASAP and try and reduce this 'different interpretations' excuse.

Oh yeah, of course!!!!!! The ref totally evaded the question though. I'll probably get a yellow card for that hahaha

Consistency across leagues is an issue, I agree. Although remember about the different ELV's in the Southern Hemisphere...

And again that's another issue, the charter for cheats as they call it. It's lunacy to have 2 sets of rules for 1 game, scrap the free kick ELV's before next season and we're a step closer to a truely 'global' game. What do you think of the southern hemisphere breakdown area Alun?

And you can come back when you can answer how you can see a scrum on the other side of the field to justify the yellow card!
The stadium may change, but the dream will remain the same!
