As a lifelong Liverpool fan , Monday was a day many of us had been dreaming about, yearning for,.parading a major trophy hrough the city COVID meant that it was impossible to do so last time
If I could have gone to Liverpool I would have, just to celebrate with genuine fans. A friend of mine living in Pembrokeshire is from Liverpool, and a supporter like myself. Her brother, his son( both of whom I know well) were going in to the city to witness the parade., and the children were with them. I cannot imagine what families affected are going through right now, abd its too early to speculate how such a thing could have happened. I am sure I speak for everyone on the forum, hoping, praying we get good news, but obviously some are seriously injured. When unimaginable horrors like this happen, it puts many other things in perspective. Sport however can show itself in the best light , when ecounterd with such terrible things. There is a brotherhood out there that will come together , with words and acts of comfort which hopefully can help, if even in a small way. To those affected, to the families, our thoughts are with you. |

Good post - I also have supported the Reds since living in the city in the 1970s. Liverpool is probably the least 'English' of cities in England...
It looks as if the whole event was caused by a druggie who didn't know where he was, and who panicked and behaved with total recklessness and stupidity. Time will tell if that is a fair guess... In the meantime, it's been encouraging to see the unanimous support from people around the country and overseas, including many rival football clubs. Some things are much more important than sport. As of 2pm, it is believed eleven people are still in hospital (BBC)... we can only hope that they all pull through (initially, four were said to be serious or critical) and that none suffer 'life changing injuries', though the shock will inevitably leave mental scars as well as any physical damage. To everyone who suffered - our thoughts are with you.

I think everyones in shock tbh and I echo fellow liverpool fan , scarlet pimps fine words
![]() Just pray that everyone survives and manages to escape without life changing injuries too As to the incident well weve all seen it..Absolutely horrific shocking beyond words I was watching the parade live on youtube and firstly I noticed it sort of ended quite abruptly In previous bus parades the team got off by the Liver buildings and shanks made speeches But it looks like the bus just drove straight on this time...Though it wasnt that clear amidst the mellee, the crowds and red smoke etc It then seemed as though the crowds started dispersing pretty quickly and inside the central roads ppl started walking on the roads and I think pavements barriers were down Then you had the ambulance emergency pulling down barriers to enter water street and this allegedly drugged driver tail gated him to get access to the road too...One report said he was going the wrong way down a 1 way road. ppl got more and more agitated as they saw ths guy driving through packed streets and at 1 stage he almost reversed over ppl ...he kept travelling ...in all over 700 yards I believe....some ppl tried to stop the car 1 smashed in his rear window but he accelerated away and things got dramatically worse How drugged or drunk or how irresponsible, evil or frankly insane a person would be to do what he did is beyond comprehension..... The most criticial thing of all is at the moment at least the news says the remaining injured people are stable No doubt when the smoke clears massive lessons will be learnt in making security in these situations more water tight. Though its not easy to cover every single eventuality and some crazed individual doing something so disgusting

Totally agree with the sentiments expressed by Pimp, Aber & Roy. Can't say I would have used the word that Aber used to describe the perpetrator but that comes from having a daughter who works in that sector so pardon my PC attitude.
