CARDIFF RUGBY NEXT TEST

We’re in Principality Premiership action again this week-end when on Sunday, at the “Parc” we take on Cardiff. Having tasted defeat last week, if we are to have any chance of making the play-offs this really is a must win game for the semi-pros.

Back in October we put in a terrific performance in securing an away win on the Arms Park and more of the same will be required this time round. Cardiff have improved since we last played them and will come to Llanelli with nothing to lose and all to gain.

Having now lost at the Quins and last week against Ponty, the squad will be taking a long hard look at those performances and will need to improve to secure the points on Sunday. We really didn’t turn up for the first quarter of the match against Pontypridd and indiscipline cost us in Carmarthen – the boy’s need to get it right this week!

As I’ve said Cardiff have improved since October, although by their standards they’re having a disappointing season. Their last couple of Premiership games against high flyers Cross Keys and Bedwas saw them go down very narrowly by just the one score, so they cannot be under estimated.

Let’s get behind the team this week-end as we look to get back to winning ways – it promises to be another entertaining Premiership fixture. As always look forward to seeing on Sunday.

Its just a shame we could nt have fielded a strong side like that against Ponty in the cup or league game .

I know Kirby his a good player but to start the game and be on the bench takes some doing LOL

I was thinking exactly the same when I saw this team, as those additions to the team selected against Ponty would have made a huge improvement and possibly would have come away with two wins not two losses!

LLANELLI - CARDIFF

Former Cardiff captain Macauley Cook makes a rare start for Cardiff RFC when they visit Llanelli on Sunday 24th (2.30)
Cook is one of three changes – one positional – to the team that started against Bedwas two weeks ago. Reuben Tucker comes off the replacements bench to start at No8 while Nick White moves from the back row to partner Cook in the second.
The only change in the backline sees Adam Field start on the wing in place of Ifan Evans who has sadly been forced to retire from rugby due to injury.

Cardiff (vs Llanelli)

15 Jamie Davies
14 Adam Field
13 Matt Smith
12 Darren Ryan
11 Shaun Powell
10 Joe Griffin
9 Sion Hopkins

1 Campese Ma’afu
2 Aaron Fowler
3 Ryan Harford
4 Nick White
5 Matthew Screech
6 Macauley Cook
7 Ben Roach
8 Reuben Tucker

16 Rhys James
17 Ethan Lewis
18 Jake Cooper-Woolley
19 Dan Partridge
20 Alwyn Lee
21 Bryn Phillips
22 James Thomas
23 Will Jones

Go to Llanelli RFC website and you can read an update of the game on their Twitter page which is on the right-hand side of the page!

A hat trick for Cawdor and a man of the match performance by the outstanding Dan Thomas the best compliment I can give the lad he played like a younger version of the superb  Tipuric .
