Unless you are a golf nut you may not have heard of this early 20's amateur who has just turned professional. She won the Irish Open by 6/7 shots recently as an amateur & followed that by finishing 3rd at the final major of the year again as an amateur having to forego almost £550k in prize money.
Her first tournament as a professional is being played at the moment - the Scottish Open. At the halfway stage she is leading by 2 shots on 12 under from the World No 1 Nelly Korda. That is some performance & marks out this lady as the next best thing in British sport.

Lottie duly delivered winning her first professional tournament by 3 shots & 7 from the rest of the field. Bare in mind that most of the top 50 players in the World were playing to get ready for next week's Open & you can get some idea of the magnitude of her performance.

Lottie is one of many finding Royal Porthcawl a good challenge as it should be for the Open. She sits in joint 11th at 3 under - 6 shots off the lead. She will have learnt a very harsh lesson in the 2nd round when sitting at 5 under on the day & 5 under overall she found some dense rough on the 16th. Instead of declaring it unplayable & taking a penalty drop she had two swipes at it & then declared it unplayable - result a 3 over 7.
Those two shots lost could have put her at 5 under today just 4 off the lead - small margins. She has shown great discipline in fairness by not losing it as many, more experienced players certainly have. Weather forecast today suggests it will be an interesting battle.

Solid showing by Lottie. Top 10 finish. the triple bogey in the earlier rounds cost her momentum.

Very solid Wil. Last 4 starts two wins & two top 10 finishes at majors. Great to see Charley Hull playing so well.
