Bit strange on Scarlets website which many of us check regularly.
Scarlets Marketing showing players having fun at the agricultural show for the Scarlets -trouble it it of Tavis and Dan Newton who have both moved /been moved on! Positive astute marketing or just dim/daft? Wish people would think more about the impact of a job they are doing to promote positivity re the coming season and the future not just pick an archive photo and use it again and again!

I thought exactly the same. We need to start getting the simple things right.

Glad I am not alone-marketing have done this before I am sure-its just plain stupid as if the issuing party has no idea who our current players but lets just put any relevant photo up of the Royal Show regardless of any retro/negative aspects even though we need to all move forward with the new squad.. 'oh yes lets post some photos of old players and renew a thread on whether the club was wrong to move them on' etc...etc..  Really simple and avoidable ! Better if they put up a photo of a cow and a sheep then old players who have been nudged out-daft!Confused think clever PLEASE marketing.

This is a tiny gripe.
Yes I agree that our marketing team isn't the best but starting a whole new thread because of the picture used to advertise?
What if there was no other pictures? It's a cracking picture to be fair and it shows the Scarlets in a positive light.
Are you really not going to go to the show to see the scarlets because its the wrong picture? Are you not going to turn up to watch this year because of the wrong picture?

This is the essence of the debate-its obviously not 'life and death' and I don't know your marketing experiences but in my years in running and marketing my business interests, I felt that a business  needs to think carefully on maximising the positivity of marketing message and in my personal opinion to put up a web photo where the browsers see first and foremost (it is a rugby website)  former players having fun against a background where there has been a fair bit of debate on this very forum how well or otherwise the club treated them is frankly shooting oneself in the foot! its called digging up the past not burying the past and that is just not  good marketing. If the marketing officer had come to me and asked can we use this photo I would have said no!!They must have taken more than 1 photo at the Show surely-non stop snapping I would hope.Any way I stick by my point and accept others may not agree!

The club don't advertise to please this forum?
Anyone who looks at that who doesn't post on here sees two Scarlets having a good laugh in a busy area, whilst seeing other Scarlets interacting with children in the background.
It's a good picture and nothing will change simply because the club have made a poor choice of picture.

Considering the event isn't until the 24th July (tomorrow), thinking it might be a bit difficult to display an up-to-date picture! LOL
