Just a quick heads up to CRYS16 members that Wayne has agreed to do a Q&A in the Quinnell Lounge tomorrow evening. Doors open at 7pm, with the event due to start at 7.30.

This will be the first CRYS16 event post GDPR, where everyone's membership expired on 31/7/18.

If you intend coming along, would you please check beforehand to ensure that you have renewed your membership, if not you may re join tomorrow evening. We will have application forms available. Over 140 people have yet to renew their membership.

Membership is free, but we do ask for a donation to assist CRYS16 with running costs and to enable us to carry out our projects.

We look forward to hearing what Wayne and the team have to say prior to what we all hope will be another exciting season for the Scarlets and its supporters.

Can someone ask a question on an update on injuries please

Thy will be done !

On a separate matter, CRYS16 are meeting with the Scarlets in a few weeks time. We have a number of matters to raise, one of which is to ask whether they could add a 'Physio Room' to the website. Latest updates could be added there for fans to look at. Wayne does provide updates during press conferences but naturally only when asked, and not all injuries are covered.

The only problematic issue I can see at the moment is that the players, like the rest of us, have a right to privacy when it comes to their medical records/condition.

I think it would be better suited to updates on medium - long term injuries only

doesn't have to be too specific on injury, just expected return.

Approximately 140-150 present. One of the best attended CRYS16 events.

CRYS16 are hoping to arrange a Meet the New Players in the coming month or two.

That will be a well attended event in terms of new players alone !!!!!

A lot was discussed and said by Wayne and ioan who were the 2 coaches in attendance. The meeting was filmed and we are now awaiting for the Scarlets to edit what we can put out on our social media platforms.

Here are some highlights.
1. Kicking strategy - this is dependent on issues such as weather conditions, what we perceive to be the oppositions weaknesses and strengths, and where we are during the game. If the coaches feel that we are fitter than the opposition then they will keep the ball in play to wear down the opposition so that they will tire quicker. Against Leinster for example they know that putting the ball out will just invite a driving lineout/mauls out which they are good at and will only serve to put us under pressure.
2. High level of injuries at the moment. Due to our success, last season was longer for us due to play offs. Surgery for guys like Rawlins and Boyde were delayed and so they are still not fullt fit for selection. Due to international commitments, players have returned in dribs and drabs. Bath are apparently 4 weeks ahead of where we are which contributed to last Friday's defeat.
3. There are times when the whole squad will do the same training drills, however they do concentrate on the individual requirements of players re fitness, requirements of the position in which they play, and skill set. Players are also spoken to individually on areas of weakness in their game, but praise is handed out in equal measure where appropriate.
4. New players are bedding in very well. Younger players have really impressed in pre season, Dan Davis was mentioned.
5. Targets for the season are largely kept 'in house', however coaches are planning from finals backwards to ensure that the squad 'peak' at the correct times in the season.
6. Bath was a wake up call. Physicality was not up to scratch, and on field communication was also below what is expected.

Above is some of what was said. If anyone who was present wants to add anything please do. I was busy as MC on the night so was looking for the next question !!!

Oh, and we did have the usual scrum question and the positioning of the feet, despite Wayne pointing out that he'd spent part of the summer talking with the AB's scrum coach ! We also had the question about drop goals, and why we don't go for more of them. Basically they may win the game but won't gain any BP's. We prefer to back ourselves to retain possession, build pressure and get 5 or 7 points. If not we take the 3 from LH's boot.

There was a statement from the Coaches that the Region did not want to envisage a situation where Llanelli RFC was relegated (or indeed the two independent feeder clubs, the Drovers and the Carmarthen Quins ).The RFC as everyone knows is a subsidiary of the Region and enjoys a very close connection. Good to hear 👍

It was a large attendance and I hope fans gave generously towards Crys funds for its projects including the old Stradey gates . An excellent evening with good questions and excellent replies from Wayne and Ioan.   Great organisational night for hard working Crys volunteers . Take a bow👍
