slightly off topic but are they any good? i have read alot on them but still havent listened to them. keep on forgetting. what bands are they similar too?

I can't really describe who they are similar to, they are quite unique. I suppose Tindersticks is the closest comparison but their songs are a lot slower, purposefully depressing and moody, whereas the National sound moody because of his baritone vocals but most songs are uplifting and full of life.

If you're planning on listening to an album first, I'd start with Boxer. It has much more energy throughout than the newer High Violet.
