My heart goes out to the families of those involved.
Only last the other night I was watching something on tv which which stated in the 1920's era about 700 miners a year were killed a year in mining accidents in the UK and I was thinking to myself that I could not remember hearing about the last tradgedy and then this.

Terrible news.

It was only on the front page for a day but there was also the tragic gas pipe explosion that killed at least 75 Kenyans recently.

According to the news reports I read regarding that incident, the explosion happenned because some locals had broken open a pipe to get at the fuel inside. Some of them were smoking cigarettes!
Unfortunately the explosion claimed the lives of many inocent people.
Apparently this type of thing happens all the time in Kenya, as fuel companies try to save money by not burying the pipes deeply enough or just not at all. The temptation to the very poor people to break into these pipes and sell or use the fuel themselves is too much.

This has been hard to watch and hear un-fold today. As a family we are unable to even remotely comprehend the level grief and heartache the families of these brave men have been felt in the last few terrible hours. We pass on our sincere condolences.
