International coaches all over the world are currently frantically checking family histories and places of birth.

Going to be an interesting few years building up to the wc.

I think Wales might benefit from a few capped England players.

I think it’ll make Fiji, Tonga and Samoa stronger. That might mean a few more RWC pool stage exits for us, but in the long run it’d be a good thing. It would be nice to be able to have a bit more variety in our November internationals fixtures without worrying whether we’d sell enough tickets/make enough revenue. Playing the same teams every year does get a bit boring. If Fiji, Samoa and Tonga turn up with superstar ex-All Blacks and a team that could win there’d be interest in watching Wales play them.

I hope that it does this - but I bet there will be a very peculiar edge case which means this rule will have to be overturned or amended to 5 years.

He did the first time but now that he chose England, the only way he'd be allowed to represent us is either being born in Wales or close family member who is Welsh.

It might make them stronger. It will certainly make them older. It will further allow/facilitate/legitimise/entrench the exploitation of young talent from poorer nations.

Just adds to the shambles that already is international rugby. But I guess it does now actually mean international. Just choose a country and go play for them, then when you aren't good enough. Find a tier 2 nation and go play for them. Do what you want.

Interesting times, I don't think Wales will benefit too much, but you never know

Scott technically now qualifies for England, Ireland, France and Scotland from August 2022.

Thats very interesting Wil - the odds on him going to the 2023 World Cup have just gone up considerably. Scott & Fickou outside Dupont & Ntamack has a certain charm. Apparently Alec Lozowski qualifies for Italy immediately - now that would improve them.
