Apart from music, this is a rare occasion I agree with Rap. The place does need to "Stand out" and have a degree of attraction otherwise it's just another retail park (even though it's not, hence the need for something striking).

The seed of an idea was mentioned earlier, something with an actual name in it as opposed to the place name might actually get that little bit more media interest, and might even be more sellable/attractive to punters and businesses.

Even something like the "West Wales Gateway" would at least elevate the development from a "local" name unknown to everyone outside Llanelli, to something that can be attached to the sporting aspect of the development as well. Seeing as the club have a substantial South/West Wales following, surely the development could reflect the ambitious size of the project in a bigger name, as opposed to Pemberton Park but in Welsh.

No, I think the name is average, boring, lacks thought and is unlikely to attract much media interest with a name like that. I dread to think how much the brains behind that name was paid.

The hybrid's stadium was just know as White Rock or Morfa stadium before Liberty had naming rights. Something the new stadium will have as well I'd have thought. I think SG was quoted as saying he didn't care if it was called the Mcdonald or Coke (can't remember exactly) stadium, as long as it was a big money sponsor which is fair enough. What's the retail park next to the Liberty called?

Interesting to read the other day that their stadium was planned in the late 90's, and we thought ours was behinf schedule!

The site is equidistant between Trostre and Pemberton. Of those two the anodyne Pemberton was always going to triumph, as is the way with these developments. In the past I've tried to refer to the stadium as Trostre but most seem to opt for the Pemberton tag.
Seems town planners in the sixties and fifites had far more imagination, even naming some of the estates streets after Welsh poets of renown, Gwylfa, Amanwy, Eiddil, Ceiriog, Dylan etc.
The nearest street names to the stadium are Ynys Las (Blue Island!) or Maes ar Ddafen, neither of which would go down a storm with the corporate world.
According to a poll today only 24% of us want to see private business implement bilingualism, so you takes your choice. I'd personally prefer something a bit more imaginative than using an area named after some industrial speculator, but there you go.

The choice of name for the retail park has little to do with the club and as jonescnnr has hinted I suspect the naming rights will be sold, and given our financial situation I doubt we could afford to adopt an independent name.

Naming rights will be sold (And should be these days i suppose), SG confirmed it at the start of the Radio Wales piece. Just hope its a sponsor with a non commercial name. Liberty was quite good in that respect.

Surely it would do the complete opposite.

Out of town retail parks stink.

Out of town retail parks are the dogs testicles.. they are so so much better than town centres.... and they are the future..... especially when they co-exist with a sports complex.....

Don't know .... Never used it personally

But surely the need to use it would be irritation enough ???

back on topic... i remember briefly that wiz was going to do a site on the development. Now i know that wiz is no longer a part of scarletfever, so will this mantle be taken on by someone else and a dedicated topic/page setup??????

Homogeneous plastic hell holes which contribute to the banality of modern living.

We can agree to disagree. :)
