Very short sighted from management who have broken the relationship.
Hope it's not broken.
Maybe the way to mend the relationship is to change the person in that role.

Yes, such a shame. Last season they all seemed thrilled to pull on the Scarlet. Without a doubt two of my favourites.

Afternoon all, further to my post last week which was welcomed by most (Lofty Evans amongst them) and some who thanked me privately, they asked that any future information be shared, for all on here to dissect and use to draw conclusions on the situation at our club.

Fifita and Lousi (as previously mentioned) have informed the club of their intention to leave at the end of the season (Lousi has requested an early release in Feb / March which is currently being considered. It now transpires, this is not only because of the situation at the club, but also the treatment of Sione Kalamafoni, a player who quite frankly carried us at stages during his time at the club. The Tongan's are a very loyal bunch and have not taken kindly to the treatment he has received and the derogatory offer that he was made both before and after his French move collapsed. Who was responsible for that?

The club have, last week and this, held urgent meetings to try and resolve the issue of giving Peel an extended three year contract which was signed only a few weeks ago. They are desperate for this not be leaked due to the backlash they will face. This is to the point of even not disclosing it to their usual outlet (reporter at the WM) and instead, next November, breaking it during the Autumn internationals that Peel has signed a two year extension....which will of course not be the case. They really are at a loss of how to handle this as it was not envisaged that we would lose to Black Lion, Ospreys and Dragons!

Hardy has signed for Cardiff.

Basham was last week shown around the facilities at PYS and is expected to sign in the next week or so.

Question to forum members....what would you expect to the minimum criteria / skill set of a GM of Rugby? Surely they would have at  bare minimum, either had to have played and / or coached the game to a reasonable standard so that he / she has a rugby background or alternatively, have an excellent business background with clear view and plan on how best to run this particular arm of the company? What does ours have? Unless I'm grossly mistaken, he was a PE teacher at Coleg Sir Gar, from that he was then given the responsibility of running the academy, a role which he failed badly at until the appointment of the Academy Director which was facilitated by Gareth Jenkins, as he could clearly see the faults which needed urgent attention! He was then moved into a secretarial role for Pivac and Short, and at the end of their tenure, he became GM of rugby.....since which time we have seen a steady decline of our great club; something that cannot continue under any circumstances!! The term 'self preservation' springs to mind where he is concerned!!

I'm off to pack for Clermont, so wish you all a great weekend if you're travelling and hopefully we can put some well overdue respect back into the jersey.

Many thanks for all the above. Most appreciated. Hope you have a great time in Clermont and see a much unexpected result that puts a smile on our faces.

Basham is a decent player and I'd not be upset seeing him here. But it doesn't matter who we sign unless we can get the best out of them every week.
We really need more carriers in the pack.

Lousi - I had heard that the request for an early release had been resolved and he was here for the season, but it is sad that he has fallen out with Peel. I would say that Lousi is our most important player as he's the only lock worthy of elite rugby on our books (until Craig proves himself potentially)
We're still still here, but I wish we were in an Anglo-Welsh

100%. Don’t get me wrong I don’t like people getting sent off, but the way he run from the opposite of the pitch to stick one on Moriarty was a good one, showed that they were there for each other. I said at the time with one going, I hope it didn’t mean the other two were also, but my fears are now materialising.

I thought that he just wanted to return home and was joining Mona Pacifika isn’t he ( where Stevo is coaching) . Sad to lose him and Kalifoni as well. But let’s not go back there again as too depressing ! 😡

We lost out big time when we lost Sione. He was the glue that held the Tongans together.

Absolutely and his absence has definitely cost us tries and probably wins and so ,lost fan attendance and income and lost morale. False economy not retaining him on a decent wage for a year. But it’s the Scarlets way 😤

It was criminal not to not make Sione the contract he deserved . Very rarely missed a game and 100% every game .Right  up there with Scott Quinnell has the finest no.8 I have seen in a Scarlets shirt .

100% agree the thought must have been Carwyn will kick on but he has not been half the player Sione is. He still young though and hopefully get a good injury free run in side.
Harsh to call Basham a thug one stupid brain fart this year can’t remember him being particularly dirty. At least I suppose he will show some grit something lacking in our pack at moment.
She asks why i still can't answer. I guess its in the blood.

Stories in the press at the time stated that Sione rejected the Scarlets offer and accepted the French one because it was for more than one season. I am sure I can recall a report of an interview with Sione which confirmed this.
Strange that we are hearing a completely different story now.

Lots of info there (some confidential at a guess) can we ask who the many sources are?

Good post boyo lots of interesting info keep it coming

This season is a write off if the Tongans want to go let them, even if they are arguably our 2 best players release them it will help balance the books and have a better idea for squad funding for next season and give gametime for younger players.

Has any player been heard saying "I really like Peel and respect him as a coach?"

I do'nt want to burst the bubble on the Basham debate, but if Lousi and Fifita leave, and I sincerely  hope  don't  , but we need some tight forwards.
Goodness knows from where on our budget constraints.
Without a decent platform provided by your front 5, your rearranging
the deckchairs on titanic.
Gloom pervades, even from sunny Tenerife Ouch !
I stood yer on tanner bank
