Great signing, Cahill is a regular starter for Crusaders!

I am hoping we get this through. Makes me feel more optimistic if it happens and nobody else in Wales swoops in.

I rate Douglas and feel he is one of our most important forwards. Hope we can keep him.

Is the Sean Fitzpatrick connection worth anything now?  Is he still with us?
It's a thinking man's game

Jake Ball was saying he’s retiring at the end of the season and heading back to Australia with the family, he has been a good signing for us this year and has really out his body on the line.

Ball, Douglas and Louisi. That's a massive gamble. Can understand Ball retiring.

So as far as it stands, next season we are potentially/seemingly/rumoured to be losing the following.

Jake Ball
Marnie Van Der Merwe (Confirmed)
Jarrod Taylor
Henry Thomas
Sam Lousi
Max Douglas
Alec Hepburn
Gareth Davies

I’m sure other players like Macleod and Elias were in contract years also but nothing has come out about their stays.

Am I missing anyone else? There’s going to be a few names I think will be departing at seasons end though.

Lousi is 35 at the start of next season. I don't think we can give him an extension on that basis, his influence has definitely declined this season.

If Douglas wants to leave for Japan, and I'm sure the salary out there will be decent, we can't do much to stop him.

It puts pressure on our recruitment that's for sure.

Fender seemed set for us until WRU interfered. Everybody lost in the end.

Wasn't Jonny McNicholl our last player from Crusaders? Decent benchmark!
We're still still here, but I wish we were in an Anglo-Welsh

Jake Ball - Age, time to hang up the boots
Marnie Van Der Merwe (Confirmed) - NWQ and we couldn't secure him
Jarrod Taylor - NWQ and good, but not good enough for the reduced NWQ quota coming
Henry Thomas - Age, time to hang up the boots
Sam Lousi - Age, time to hang up the boots and NWQ
Max Douglas - NWQ
Alec Hepburn - NWQ
Gareth Davies -  Age, time to hang up the boots

We're hoping to sign a license with the WRU, who want to minimise NWQ to only the highest calibre and retain as many WQ in Wales as possible, which is why we're hoping to give a home to Jack Walsh and Tahlor Cahill.

All good signs for the future Wink

I can’t blame Douglas for getting that bag. As I’ve said as a six he’s a luxury, we need locks. We signed him and Fifita previously as locks, and both ended up on the flank.

He was yes. He said when he signed he knew Murray well and JMac convinced him.

“I knew Blair (Murray) well and he has done really well since coming here and also Johnny McNicholl, who I played with at the Crusaders.

“Johnny spoke really highly of this place. A lot of guys who have come here have stayed here for a while which is a sign of a good club with a good culture. Johnny is a guy who I have a lot of respect for, a good mate of mine and that really sold it to me.”

I think Leigh Halfpenny had a hand in us signing Murray.

Don't think he ever made the senior side, I could be wrong, but still a good signing from Canterbury!!

Edit  - I see the quote above now. 2 starts I think.

So, another reason for Cahill to follow the same path!!
